this 360 degree envelope for WVR missiles is useless as any such turns will severly degrade missile range. if you need such turns for missile that you are already is trouble.this 360 degree envelope for WVR missiles is useless as any such turns will severly degrade missile range. if you need such turns for missile that you are already is trouble.

Pure BS, if you are in WVR you are in trouble. Tell that to pilot that used a MICA to shoot more than 10 kts rearwards using passive sensors only for ex.

    0.025m^2 (“quarter a Rafale”)

source please, i’m very interested in it and it contradicts every pilots testimony i could hear.

Does it look like one? Does the Typhoon even give you any kind of impression that it’s trying, floating around at low altitude. Maybe what you’re not seeing in this gun practice is the Typhoon killing him from behind in between sightings.

You can find a translation on the net about what the pilot says bout Typhoon. Not very elogious.

That number being quoted by Ajai Shukla is definitely wrong..there is no way that the IAF wouldn’t have raised a hue and cry if the availability numbers were that low. He seems to have fallen for that “50% fleet grounded due to MC issues” news that was being bandied around, when in fact that was related to just the initial batch of MKIs and even that is on its way to being resolved.

It can be both true and untrue…
Availability also depends on needs and investments in supply chains etc. For example, one may just build a pool of spares for all over india, and availability will disminish due to logistics… But could quickly raise up in case of emergency.
The real availability measurements should be during war operations, which i hope india will not see.
Dunno if i was clear in my statements, forgive old non english-born writer 🙂

Pilot safe, good deal. I’m guessing there are a lot of smug bloggers on the usual “haters” sites, and quite a few circumspect ones on the f-16. net type forums that were rejoicing the T-50 fire incident. Hey, these things happen.

Absolutely. That is why i didn’t comment.

Canadians may be right. There regulations say that calculated costs must be for 20 years, all inclusive.

70000 euros is a perfectly plausible cost if you count purchase price, financials etc. Nothing to do with (already complicated) CPFH.

You would hope so but which will work best is unknown. While defending an aircraft itself from such an attack is plausible, stopping the effect from taking place on a missile could be rather more tricky.

For once i’ll have to agree with you.

Btw, according to Gareth Jennings (Jane’s), F-35 B (and may be A and C) is grounded after a major in filght oil leak. Flights resume scheduled the 18th.

EADS have nothing to do with Captor-E except via UMS. Ask UMS. Whatever your wet dreams are, Captor-E will be fitted with GaAs based modules. It may have GaN based modules in the future, but not yet.

Source. The link you’ve posted doesn’t specify anything about autonomous LOAL lock and I know AIM-9X Blk II doesn’t have it either because it’s planned for Blk III. LOAL requires cuing via datalink for MICA. Here to play all you like.

You don’t post anything either apart from hot air.

AIN online is from 2011, ans say ‘the ultimate”. Bad luck, Captor-E antenna will not be the ultimate…
