RD – I’m sorry for your fatigue, but facts are facts, and the single engine, wingspan and short fuselage, not to mention the broad cross-section aft of the cockpit, are all STOVL-driven. Conversely, designing a CV/CTOL configuration can be done quite easily. Ask the French.

    Well, easily….

    Impressive Touch&Go at 3.16 without afterburner (?)

Hovering at 6.00 with a remarkable stability (even if the wind appear to be low).

Thx to BAE Harrier AVT 😉

Hmmm, I think I recall a head honcho in the AdlA mentioning the electronic warfare aspects that RBE2 would bring to Rafale.

No idea where I’d get a source you’d be happy with for it though.

They are very secrecive about it. There ARE upgrades for F3.4 and F3-R standards (aswell as spectra 5T), but we know very little about it . Right topic?

just for the sake of info, no RBE2 is not advertised as a jammer. Jamming is performed by three AESA antennas on 360° on RAfale, aswell as on Typhoon (praetorian). REally nothing new about it….

Blasted, i was making the wrong assumption that all the 180 MN and Adla airframes would be delivered till 2019/20, the next tranche (~45 aircrafts) would take the production line till 2024. This reasoning was correct till August last year, when the French Budget plan was released.

In fact they want to delay is as much as possible, but modernized 2000-D and “old” -5 will be replaced.

Well… That is what the minister said end of january

Who told you Rafale line would be closed? Minister reinstated in january that a further tranche would be ordered…

yes i know, but a very short testimony of one of the “talkers” (why did they talk and expect from the plane, what in their opinion had the program crashed for) would be very interesting to me, i would reaally love not to cite only french people ;).

Pretty sure the F-1 could fire the sidewinder and python without the MF2000 upgrade.

    NO

Can the F-1 now use HOB missiles? No.

Because mica isn’t a HOB missile now?

Can it data link to AWACS? No.

Uh what is link 16 made for?

Can it use the DB-110 pod. No.

Not sure if it can use Reco-NG pod

Can it transfer Sniper pod data to a ground terminal to frontline troops?. No.

No but Damocles yes, uing ROVER

and (again) you miss the fact the cost also included Falcon Star airframe upgrade.

I’m sure a VP at dassault would “know” if it was true though.

Probably, but would he tell me? Spcifically if it is only preliminary contacts? Afterall i’m merely nothing but a blogger with a few printed articles. Btw, i am starting a book about mirage 4000, Irak once seemed interested, and i would like to have testimonies out of France. If you know any retired Air Force officer etc. I’d be very interested to go in touch.

    Thanks,

    Yves

    wow really?

That is a big shock. I wonder why the IqAF commander said those words then? Morale boosting for new officers? well, that’s a sad and quick ending for this story.

Many possible reasons : on DA side, either te person i talked to didn’t know (but he is one of the vice presidents), either they don’t want to communicate.
On iraki side : morale bosting, a call to iraki government from iraki air force, a way to pressure US about F-16 IQ.
    Who knows?

Two sites to see what would be the votes.

Nice to see the ‘Yes’ are close to Russia. 😀

    German: http://bazonline.ch/schweiz/standard/Der-GripenKauf-ist-wahrscheinlich-gescheitert/story/28557437
    French: http://www.20min.ch/CH-Abstimmungen/index_popup.html?abstimmung=174&lang=fr

nothing to do with tussias’s proximity, generally speaking on that map erman speaking “cantons” voted yes as italian and french speaking voted no.

I was not referring to the offer but the quantity. It is clear irak larger GDP growth and large labor pool allows it to have bigger airforce over long term. so not selling to them shows lack of intelligence.

As far as there was no RFI…

bet on what? All said that Qatar does not have the surplus of money that it can afford more Rafales than Irak.

first is lower labor and water costs enable Irak to operate greater number of airplanes without expensive external contractors/pilots.

best bet for Dassault is to start supplying that 1 squadron of Rafale to Irak

Point is there has never been any Dassault offer…
