This quote will only be correct if it were changed into This was the first time in the world that a technology demonstrator drone flew in formation with a fighter and a bizjet

Agree. Btw as as i said above, longer shot to come.

Exactly what i said, X-45 as leader, and a chase plane. Nothing to do with coordinated close formation manoeuvers between a drone, a fighter and a biz jet. But nvm…

Which does absolutely nothing to support the claim made by the marketing folks that this was a world’s first formation flying by a drone. Other drones have flown autonomously in formation as has been shown in my post a few days ago.

You showed me a ribbon flight 100 meters away. Not the same thing at all.

ALL UAV/UCAV have to be controlled from the ground, when they have autonomous ops, the pilot need bother with the stick but then becomes a mission planner and coordinator…

Could you elaborate please? I’m confused.

Btw, The flying Rafale is the B301 experimental plane. Did you notice the small white satcom antenna?

French Marine Nationale is only modernizing 15/22 Atlantique2, why not jump into the train?

Ok i think i found the source.

    http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/02/20/bae-malaysia-idINWLB0079Z20140220

    is it?

The 13th of March (taht is later), during the annual results conference Dassault CEO clearly denied having received any leasing sollicitation. The video is on the net.

So something is fishy. (either Reuters report is misreported, either one of their is a propaganda war).

if you look at recent Jane’s News, it seems that Malysia will move to a leasing solution, but not decided yet.

Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief General Rodzali Daud mooted the strong possibility in 2013 of the MRCA requirement transforming from a purchase deal to a lease deal due to a lack of available funding.

    Reuter’s repeated a local jorno.
But i may be wrong, and i’m very interested in your source about Ala Garwood sentence.

What make me think they didn’t ask? Because they didn’t (at least to one of the contenders). LAst months news about leasing were from one unique only paper…

KUALA LUMPUR — Saab has confirmed it has submitted proposals to the Malaysian government for the lease of Gripen fighters but said it wasn’t responding to a formal request for information.

Sqd 2/30″Normandie-Nemen” wont the “Recce Meet” exercise trophy. Congratulations to them! It is also noticeable that 3 rafales will be deployed in India for next Garuda exercise early may. Ah and technical and financial contracts are wrapped for a sale to Qatar according to industrial sources (La Tribune, Air&Cosmos infos, i checked). Signature hoped soon (probably in june during the emir visit in Paris?), but no triumphalism here after some disappointing news about “done deals” in the past

You are absolutely right, NEUROn is only e technology demonstrator. It’s successor should be the EFCAS, jointly built with BAE (and possibly others). Neuron simply can’t be piloted remorely, the AI pilots and operators just validate flight phases. For this vido for ex, FCS was in “stealthy” mode (very slightly moving part) otherwise the agility (i mean time to bank) of the drone is too high for human piloted planes to follow. The risky part is the drone has self adaptation capabilities (for ex, if the engine was to stop, the drone would dive to restart it, or if there is a critical failure, the drone will decide by itself to go back and land home) that had to be managed.
More vidoes are to come, (making of next week for ex.), with more manoeuvers.
Btw, there were two aircrafts other to take the video.
