What about A2A missiles – AIM-9, ASRAAM, AMRAAM, Python etc? Australia uses AIM-120, AIM-9 and AIM-132 ASRAAM.
What about A2G munitions – AGM-84, AGM-154, AGM-65 etc etc. Again Australia uses AGM-84 and AGM-154.
Link 16 is also critical in an era where there are significant focus on networking and information sharing.
In terms of weapons Rafale is about as compatible with RAAF (or RCAF or RNLAF or ROKAF) as a Su-30MKI.
You know what, i think that as soon as the choice was made and Rafale wouldnt be “vastly more capable” Australia should stick to F18++. But you mix compatibility and integration. Eg. Raytheon offered to equip winner of MMRCA with its weapons. That said, we’re a bit out of topic no?
Not a chance… The Rafale is substantially more expensive than the Super Hornet even while trailing it in capabilities.
Develop plz, make my day
Orders are still valid and 11/year contractual.by 2018, f3r standard…
well, as you can undertand, some of these are classified. Lets say one need 2.5 to 3 years to build Rafale. This schedule can be slightly changed, but not so much . This schedule is a journalist iconograpy (good one tbh). Plz remember indian raflales, due to numerous differences from french ones will be built from scratch. Including israeli stuff (i dont know which, but this was recently quoted), russian missiles (which ?)
Omgz dint light me up on Aibus history subject plz, i like to be friend with germans 😉
Tahts a critical point, i do not mean i know secrets, but… I’s love to know which percentage of critical test points were matched, aswell as how many normal tests will have to be done again after hardare changes?
Again that BS about Rafale being incompatible with US weapons. 1st several US bombs are integrated. Second Rafaleis fully stanag compliant. Third, Israeli official stated that israeli components ARE being integrates (for indian rafales). Fouth, (and it wasnt intended to), Russian missiles are negociated for implementation on Rafale (in particular, for sure KH31)…Any other clue about Rafale capability to integrateforeign weapons?
Which interoperablity are you talking about? MADL (wont work with F18) or Link 16?
Actually it does…. Unlike the USA which has massive runways within reach of major towns, Australia has a lot of minor towns which cant handle a C-130.
During previous natural disasters the Caribou got in where the Herc couldn’t land in order to deliver much needed aid. Also the C-130 is limited to Port Moresby in PNG whereas the Caribou got into a lot of the airstrips in the highlands.
C-27 while needing a longer strip then the Caribou will be able to service some of those grass runways again.
Currently the B350 are flying in and out PNG.The only stupid thing about it is that the C-27 will be based at Amberley and none will come to Townsville.
Considering the amount of soldiers now based in Townsville (1,2 and 3 RAR) it seems a strange move.
Previously the Caribou in Townsville used quite often by the Army during its exercises. Now imagine if they bought the palletized kit to turn the C-27 into the gunship version….
Agree. A400M could also be a nice solution for heavier payloads.
Boeing stated this morning that RCS tests gave a 50% RCS redcuction.
I should be able to answer you after the 4th (visit at StCloud)
Tbh, journalist probably made a mistake reporting…
I was purposedly using a certain tone jsr.
NGJ was already tested (i think ATLC 2009) as pod “Carbone”, but we lack money to industrialize it. And in some way, SPECTRA is a victim of its success…. But i know aviators do wish a long distance jamming pod. Partnership would benefit (as it doese for ARM weapon integration with India). Atm philosophy of french pilots, when you talk to them, is wecan deal with 90% of G2A menaces while staying multirole, and navy is inducting Scalp marine. Small country, partners always welcome!
A French Way of SEAD?
Very few points as Bring resigned. All F3 rarales can be fitted with AESA in less then 2 hours. First rafales will be inducted in 2017. And they will be built for india from scratch (official). They will include HMS, towed decoy (different from french LEA program), short range IR self protection missile and ARM missile (unofficial). Mig 29K radar signature is nearly the one of a destroyer (apart from that capable airplane, if you are confident in a plane finally asembled humming parts altogether). Meteor being obsolete (which doesnt mean incapable bw) is a rather ridiculous assumption, aswell as 300km range missile able to kill a fighter. Mig 29 engines smoke like hell! 😉
