You have to love the British media. đ
I do. Best souvenir : Decades ago, The Sun called ppl to Dover cliffs to protest against French. A famous french TV commentator called these same friends to make another step towards France :highly_amused:
Another epic fail….
Navy carrier jets ‘can’t land in hot weather’

No other comment.
Nice vid indeed đ
I watched Rafale at MAKS 2011 too, it was awesome. But there is one striking difference, i don’t know if it has something to do with T/W ratio..
When we look at Su-35 or Su-29M2/35 doing display, they can do the take-off immelman and go into a crazy climb.
Or when they go into post stall/departure flight and then just point the nose straight up and go.The Display of Rafale seems mostly to be in the 6-7 G load, hense the smooth excesive speed all around the display.
It has an impresive slow speed handeling as well, but again it never enters the Departure flight regime.
Does the delta design give an disadvantage in recovering the aircraft from departure flight?
Tis is an old demo from “GĂŠgĂŠ”. I love his way to pilot. In fact, if you saw MAKS demo, you saw the “square dance” (sustained 9G). Pilots say during Rafale demo that they regularly go over 10g. You may like that site http://www.rafalesolodisplay.com/
Seen from Rhino…
Well, MICA so far cost more than Meteor, and it will be less capable at BVR ranges,
i think the best bet is 2xMeteor + 4 (current) Mica loadout.

I’ll try to check numbers, those seem fairly old.
Well as i understood the author in Air & Cosmos talking about MICA NG (studies plan only btw), reducing electronics siize in the missile will allow to put in the same body a dual booster with two advantages over RAMJET : faster ignition and lower price.
I think the smoothness is afforded by Delta Wing of Rafale/FBW combination , I have seen Mirage-2000 solo display which are very smooth.
On the contrary Mig-29 and F-16 types though pull G’s and give good display but smoothness seems lacking
Anw it was more or less a way to advertise for this video :eagerness: more then anything else
A 60 km Range for the Aim-120A , or the 180 km range for the Aim-120D is definitly not for Manuvering targets as correctly mentioned by you..These are proabably for non manuvering large crafts that are unable to turn in any signficant way…These missiles are MEDIUM RANGE and not LONG RANGE….Any missile that is designed to consistantly shoot down manuvering targets at 180+ km would look a looooot lot different from the Meteor, 120, or R77…Expect good performance at 70-80 km against credible threat and with that sort of range you have quite less reaction time even in a GPS assisted flight profile that is lobbed..I once spoke to USAF pilots who had gone up against the raptor in Mock combat, and he was frustrated at the fringing tactics of the raptor… a few raptors would stay at the fringe of the envelope and take pot shots at BVR at bogeys due to their VLO , detection advantage and super-cruising ability..
Genuine question : incoming missiles like Mica NG with dual boost wont be game changers as far as NEZ is concerned?
The display is one of the best Mig-29 solo display i saw in recent times this bird turns better in air with every upgrade.
I think though the fighter in question is more like Mig-29M2 then Mig-35
I do love, but compare smoothness etc.
Nice Air Display by Mig-35
Nice one. I dont know who is Tonkatsu, but beautiful videos
What void?
Russia is naturally the dominating power in Eastern Europe and everything east of the German border belongs into the Russian sphere of influence. Things are just returning to their natural state when the Americans finally go away.
Dangerous words combo…
Who fills the void of leaving US forces ? I’d say this is the underlying question we have to answer here in Europe. It is more about politics than military capability. On paper united Europe has more than enough conventional forces. But, is there enough commitment from European NATO members ?
I’d say no, and this will influence decisions in eastern Europe. Moscow gained influence. Mission accomplished RuAF.
+1.
Time for a european pact. Not about foreign operations like Afghanista or Mali, politics are too different. But i think we should rely on each other as far as our territorial integrities are concerned. Common QRAs could be a baby step.
So does his settle the debate about the F-15E vs S-300/400 and Pakfa/J20 once and for all đ
I think he thought about SE. And there we are in the core of the debate, between pure stealth planes with poor kinematics and discreete planes with excellent kinematics (considering they will have similar EW suite). Of course, both planes will have advantages and flws, will not use same mission profiles etc. Passions apart, hard to decide.
See the recently published capability of Rafale (as an example, some other planes prolly can do) to track, target and shoot over the shoulder a tango using passive sensors only. Two weeks ago it would have been a “unique F35” capability… And i dont intend to bash F35…

I was asked my opinion about the F-35. It’s a waste of money. Far too expensive. Give me an F-15 E – less expensive, will do the job.
Can’t believe it! But the simple rejection by india should tell about eurocanrds vs Fulcrum. coma.
