MICA IR shows that few Western air forces were prepared to buy such a missile.
Which do not mean the concept is bad…
Hope you are right π
Any source? Pleaaaase
Btw, also according to the same magazine (very interesting issue, lots of info about Mali), Rafale outperformed F15 and F18 during Qatari trials (they quote “an official”). No word about Typhoon.
Red Flag
According to Air&Cosmos magazine, 4 rafales (aswell as 4 M2000D and 3 tankers) should be involved in red flag in august
Rafales F1 M2 to M10 are being retrofitted to F3 standard. Only one early prototype is “sitting”. Bad move.
Lets have fun now EE, what about a plane suited with some Meteor in order to engage in far BVR, then Mica EW and IR for shot BVR THEN Mica IR for WVR?
Would you like to dance with that plane?
Not really. Just don’t see the point of it if one already has a dedicated IRST system onboard. With ASRAAM and Meteor, I don’t think MICA is really needed taking into account the maximum range of ASRAAM and the minimum range of Meteor, theres no shortfall in gap between these two missiles.
Well point is you can send in bvr simultaneously BVR IR and radar missiles, i guess it should make target’s pilot live interesting moments…
I didnt say there was a shortfall…Neither that Typhoon needed mica. Could be a little +
That doesn’t explain why its any better than a Typhoon with a built in dedicated PIRATE/IRST system, HEA, ASRAAM, Meteor and Captor-E.
He meant MICA instead of ASRAAM only i think, in order to have a longer range IR missile, no big deal to argue, is it?
Do they fall off the aircraft in surrender the moment the battle begins? ;D
Thats exactly what they did during US independence war no?:dev2:

I was a bit harsh, my apologizes

I love this topic, if one day i feel depressed, i just take a look at it and i feel better….
Engine is a new state-of-the-art Chinese WS-10
state of surrealist art?
Now tell me, why use a dsi if a fixed air intake allow a plane to go up to mach 2 or so?
βNo way an F-35 will ever match a Typhoon fighter jet in aerial combatβFORMER Eurofighter and PRESENT LM employee test pilot says

Thats exactly the aim of Sethi2 pods presently tested at ONERA : it combines SAR (X, Land UHF bands), visible and multispectral camera images, even allowing underground (slightly of course) detection.

short google translate :
“This is what allows
RAMSES-NG, thanks to the complementary equipment radar and optical sensors: the means
allow optical surveillance centimeter while the use of radar equipment
allows monitoring of large field of several square kilometers. the combination
two means is ideal for specific operations, such as identifying
vehicles and people on the ground. ‘
These means of detecting and monitoring various sensors can combine radar or optical,
hyperspectral cameras or electronic scanning antennas. Thus, depending on whether
desired to detect vehicles on a road or identify and track the evolution of a terrorist cell
in an isolated or covered, we will not use the same sensors or combinations of sensors
No idea about low altitude followground systems capabilities on F35. Anyone has?
