F-35 is designed to fly HIGH through an IADS, then locate, identify and kill CCD’d mobile targets. This is something no Rafale, Typhoon, Gripen nor F-15/16/18 or F-22 can do.
Ever thought that there are different ways to reach the same goal?
— Which, the “A” (probably) will be in the acquisition price range of the Typhoon/Rafale/Evolved Eagle, the “B” and “C” will be more expensive both to acquire and to operate.
Definitely not according to KPMG audit in Canada
His views are certainly biased towards his opinion about the plane. But he points at F35 flaws. (too high wing loading, mediocre manoeuvrability, short legged for some versions, either very low emport or loss of furtivity…).
F35 has (or will have) very strong points (LO, powerful multispectral sensor suite, top notch EW etc.) but also flaws (like any plane).
Four-colour Bic biros seem popular onboard…
In every armies and navies
Not really. The question was about the most cost-effective solution at first. For peace-time operations the present F-35A is an overkill in related cost and capabilities. Just in a war the F-35A can show its real capabilities and here cost becomes secondary only. How much is the probability that Canada will become a member in a real war against a very capable foe in the next decades?!
I was quoting his very words. This express his opinions, not mine. He is a dedicated opponent to F35, maybe not completely objective, but still a competent person. Another interview from him?

Pierre Sprey views about F35
In http://www.tou.tv/enquete/S2012E14
Pierre Sprey calls it a Terrible airplane, good at nothing, turkey, flop etc.
His views…:diablo:
Where do the 9.7 tons picture come from? Confused.
The combat radius of 600 Nmiles was for an F 35 with 2×2000 lbs JDAMs and it involves 15 minutes of combat, incl. AB usage. BTW, LM din not “strugle” with the combat radius. It is true that the range was only 584 Nmiles, but LM kept a safety margin of 5 %, so the actual radius is 613 Nmiles.
As Djcross alreday mentioned, mission profile should be considered. Check this:

(i) Old LM commercial statement
(ii) which external tanks? (3 is a number, doesnt precise which size)
(iii) CFT to be inducted on Typhoon tranche 3, and are said available on Rafale for export customers (at least we know aerodynamics were tested)
(iv) Rafale fuel consumption lowered by about 5% due to pack GCP induction
(v) LM recently lowered specs for F35, specially acceleration
Conclusion : not anymore relevant
Why didnt you quote that part?
“We were feeling good about our competitive position, and about the relationship between the UAE and the US
