Not news. It was already said at the beginning of the competition… however interesting data.
20 years ago the Royal NAvy AND Marine Nationale did lay down design specifications. And i DO remember the uk ambassador in France, former head of British procurement explaining during an audition to the defence commitee of Assemblée Nationale that catapults were removed DUE TO COST (2 billions/ship as i remember).
Not grounded anymore ashore my friend, it started sea trials a week ago;)
Tomcat, where do you see RCS reduction features on QE? there are antennas etc. protruding everywhere. Anyway, trying to make stealthy such a huge ship would be well… unproductive?
he size would be no different were it CATOBAR, STOBAR or if it carried F-18s or Rafales.
Exactly my point. Do you remember the design was originally common with France?(more than 200 million spent) CaTOBAR aimed.
The QE could be half its size it would probably sustain as many sorties as it will. And With catapults it would definitely sustain more, and project power much further.
you are welcome. Still such a huge ship for a stovl aircraft?
Sry, but what a waste!!!
inc bad joke : How do you recognize the nationality of a western carrier?
If F18 on it : US
if Rafale on it : Fr
If nothing on it: UK
And it would be embarassing if they shot down a F-35… (lets hope not and no casualties)
Apparently, as a retaliation, the two S300 systems ordered by Syria will be delivered within two weeks. (no idea when they would be operational)
With what money?

djcross these papers are PDFS so easy to translate. I did not use auto translator, due copyright and technical lavel of the papers (need to read them completely), but imho they are utterly interesting to be read before starting a discussion about them. Did you try?

Look, i’m just meanin that there are MANY factors to assess the capability of an aircraft. And that capability will greatly depend of dcotrina, tactical considerations etc. of the operator. No less no more.
Btw, where could i find the original KPP? Think i had a link and lost it. Ty.
Yes, but no demo…
llen Lord, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment, discusses international cooperation, improving industrial capabilities and cyber security, and calls F-35 Lighting II fighter costs per flight hour and aircraft availability “unacceptable” as DoD and Lockheed Martin work to reduce purchase and operating price while increasing availability. The Defense & Aerospace Report is a media partner of the ComDef 2018 conference where the interview was recorded.
