The oled displays seem to be in testing. In the second video of the series the navy guys discuss its use.

There has been f-15Es at red flag and northern edge.

yes apparently no more green glow. good. Engaged F-15 did have AESA?

set to never before see etc. Is leagues away from doing the same thing with a GBU as another plane with a 100 miles range missile…

    Helmet to implement optical tracking

it means that optical tracking is used to position the helmet, like on the Typhoon for ex. It doese nottrack pupils. (btw, there is a law patent issue on inertial tracking with Thales-visionix)

Visor uses transparent OLEDs within the visor itself now rather than projected image

. Possible, but are you positively sure he is not talking about OLED projector? i’m interested in if you have infos. (an it is in development stage)

software improvements look nice, not sexy but very useful (hotas declutter etc.).

Okay they killed evrything at Red Flag. Including AESA equipped fighters?

Potential (and this is a big IF) Israeli objections aside, the UAE will eventually operate F-35As. It remains to be seen whether that is 2 years from now, 5 years from now or 10 years from now. I don’t know how that effects the prospects of some of the other OEMs potentially look to sell their aircraft there but I think its more of a matter of when and not if.

I think you are right, but i’m quite sure there will be another OEM. UAE will want to keep contact key of some of their planes…

(and i was talkin about daily operations in Yemen, not first massive strike ; active aircrafts aren’t stationed in UAE but in eastern africa atm.)

The F-35 has already shown that it can do more with a JDAM than 4th gen can do with HARM.

In your dreams…Anw, with modern agile radars, Harm is more or less obsolete now.

Well the UAE does fly the most advanced F-16 and UAE hasn’t given us any reason why we can’t trust them so i guess UAE possibly acquiring F-35’s is no big deal, right?

    (i) Expect Israel to lobby very hard agains
(ii) Why do UAE not use those F-16 in Yemen?

Why do I still bother replying to you ?! )

    (i) because anywhat i say (including long range missile useless on F-35 …) you’d feel uneasy if you did not contradict me.

(ii) because i give you the opportunity to write an article on why the F-35 is the right choice for Belgium on our website (in french), the way ottawa citizen did few years ago (aka promoting a plane, not losing time destroying the others). Fair?

It’s a bit counter-intuitive to want to stick your massive long range cruise missile inside either of those aircraft in my opinion anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Germans come to the same conclusion as the UK and wait to see what the Storm Shadow replacement will look like.

Agreee, the F-35 concept is being a long range cruise missile in itself…

Again it was against PR not the plane in itself. Multifunction antennas ARE an advantage.

Nice LM communications plain (360°) Lie in Belgium (again i have no real issues with the plane, but with program amnagement and communications)

“An active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar that provides a constant 360 degree view using the newest generation of radar technology.”

Well that must make the Franco German Typhoon replacement even more certain?

    In a way, yes.
