Hi Matthias, great stuff as always! Do you have a local supplier for the 109 fuselage skins/ frames or are they from the UK ?
Steve.
Dont know exactly, but I think they are from the UK, and they are pretty good. Nxt time when I am in the shop I will ask the brothers and report here.

more work on the fuselage

after that … tear it apart again and move the parts to the paintshop, paint it lightgrey (RLM02 is too dark for comfortable work in the fuselage), and again back into the “slipway” … what the hell is that word in english concerning aircraft

and last but not least for today, men at work, excatly those sheetmetal workers. These guys are really artists. Incredible what they are douing with sheetmetal. Awesome work

very very nice, are the frames Hartmair, the uplock new manufacture parts?
nope no Hartmair parts. The uplock is a revised original part
Hals und Beinbruch!
Thank you very much

a very special view … call it “time journey”
Through the socalled “Handlochdeckel” you can see a Jodel Robin. Its not only a Jodel Robin, its the personal aircraft of a famous Luftwaffe-pilot who served on several Bf109 with Jagdgeschwader 54 “Greenhearts”, decorated as “Ritterkreuztraeger” (German Cross in Gold). At the end of the war he flew with JV44 Messerschmitt Me262. He survived the war and stayed uncompromised to general aviation, flying that Jodel Robin. He said as he brought the Robin “I know its not a 109, its not so fast, not so powerful, but the manoeuverbility is the same as in the 109. The rudders, ailerons, everything seems to be similar”. He laughed and went to the Messerschmitt project. What a man. Sometimes he is in the shop, looking at those warbirds. Sometimes I want to know his thoughts, sometimes not really.

Time for some updates concerning the conversion Buchon to Gustav. A lot of work for the sheetmetal workers but the fuselage grows step by step.

Working on the fuselage

When will the Sea Fury fuselage arrive at Meier Motors?
Dont know, hope the next weeks. I´ve heard that the fuselage is on the ship already. Hope its not a cruise 😀
Meier Motors sind absolut klasse Mathias.
Fantastic to see all the workmanship going on no matter what type or nationality of aircraft type. Will the Sea Fury be restored to British standard or Amerikanised?
Cees
Thank you for your feedback, I will hand it over to the team
The SeaFury will get its original Bristol Centaurus engine and will be restored to its German roots. That SeaFury saw action with the German Luftwaffe as target-towing plane in North Germany as D-CACE. The engine is under restauration at Vintage V12´s, the fuselage is under restauration at Sanders Aeronautics.
Spitfire ? Okay lets talk about T9
work is going on at Spitfire T9 MJ772 D-FMKN, and it is a lot of work.

the radiator in the paintshop

wrapped for the paintjob … no, it wasnt Christo, it was teamwork

ready for tugging to the paintshop

and ready

As always, Matthias, your photos are better than being there – the detail is outstanding.
.
*hmmm what should I say. When I am over there I always get a cool beer, so being there is a bit better  😀
Thanks for your feedback, its a big pleasure
lets turn to the SeaFury project
undercarriage

tailwheel

and just some feet away, work at the centersection and tailfin

lets turn to the SeaFury project
work on the centersection ist going on. You can see, its a lot of work to restore a warbird. And think about, this wing was in a very good shape. Millions of parts are coming together, small bits and pieces…. and …. the construction is very british: why build it easy when you have the chance to make it complicated

Sorry i was reading from this quote by Matthias
“After the Legends, MkVIIIc needed some service. Oleg and Felix are working at the open heart of Spitfire MkVIIIc “
Sorry i was assuming this plane had flown at Legends and was having a service upon returning, sorry if it’s wrong or a different plane.
Spitfire Mk.VIIIc got an revised engine some months ago. This is the revised engine and it was a normal service. Checking the valves and so on.
Spitfire Mk.XVI TE184 also based at MaxAlphaAviation in EDTG got a small service
Spitfire T9 MJ722 D-FMKN got also a revised engine after the bellylanding in spring this year. The revised engine is already in the shop but in this second not mounted in the airframe.
Yes friends, 3 Spitfires in EDTG ….. I think it needs a fourth to fly a grand formation. Just dream a bit …. just imagine and on their six the three Messerschmitt (running projects in the shop) …. what a picture *hm we will see what happens in about three years 😮
P-51D D-FBUN – ex-Huntress ready to rumble
One of the most beautiful Mustangs ready to rumble …. not tyüical shots, but I love that shape and “architecture”
