So it is a Meteor. Didn’t know Doug Arnold had one. Can’t say I ever saw it display during the 80’s, 90’s but then it was a rare treat to see any WOGB aircraft at a display. I saw his P38 Miss Behaving in pieces at Evergreen Aviation probably 1998.
I’ve got a shot of the Meatbox – I’ll dig it out. The Spit was easily available as I’d already scanned it for use in the book.
Definately a Meteor. I think Doug Arnold had Meteor NF.11 / TT.20 WM167, which is now of course G-LOSM. Could be that one!?

That’s it. Also a Sea Fury.
Spitfire SL721 at Blackbushe
This was “The First of the Many” – Doug Arnold’s first Spitfire at Blackbushe … one of my shots featuring in the forthcoming Vol II 🙂

Recently saw a pic of Spitfire 21 LA255 being refurbished by the BBMF. It looked really good.
I am great fan of the twenties series Spitfire. They look very powerful yet graceful.
Will it be too long before one is gracing european skies? TFC’s Mk 22 doesn’t seem to jump the qeue unfortunatly. And the boo isn’t out yet.

Oddly enough a gorgeous photo of LA255 “on guard” at Cardington came in from Mark 12 this morning. I’m laying out the 20 Series Chapter right now. After that its the Seafires, the Appendices and final checks … 🙂
Don’t forget the pure-jet powered version …

Does that mean I’ll have to revise Volume II (just working on the 20-series as we speak!)
I find it very disturbing that events that I don’t think are very long ago are recorded in black and white pictures!
Looking at Hangar 3 in the background, this image predates the IWM shop / OFMC office portacabin that has recently gone – and that was there for a long time!
What date for this photo, do you think? I think the Drone flew in the early days of the Russavia operation, perhaps 1984?
22 November 1981 – I did use colour film in those days but as this was for use in my magazine I only shot it in black & white 🙂
Air-Britain has a later shot by Robin A. Walker:

Blimey – this is a zombie thread!
Here’s my offering. Post-war Percival publicity shot featuring G-AGTC. Fuselage was pale blue and wings were silver.

Mike’s BAC Drone
Sorry about the thread creep but I thought I’d like to share this shot of Mike as he was about to fly G-AEDB for the first time:

OTGA
One That Got Away 🙂
Was this originally offered to the FAAM when it was accompanied by a Bloch (152??) but turned down because it was felt to be too far gone – or was that an old wives tale?
Not the first time I’ve posted this shot of the Seafire and the Bloch at Gavres in 1966 – courtesy of the late Jean Frelaut.

Good flying photos anyone?
For some reason it is rather difficult to obtain good flying shots of G-FIRE, probably because it actually attended relatively few air shows. If anyone has any they’d like to see published please PM me 🙂
It will all be in Volume II … 🙂
And by a strange coincidence I have just laid out the page for SL611 for the upcoming Volume II ! (Working on SL721 right now)
