They could try tethering it like Hawker did with the prototype P 1127.
Not a good idea …

Just a questions. Is the tube they are using in recent rebuilds NOS or is it from a recent production run.Richard
New production by/for Hawker Restorations Ltd. On my most recent visit Tony said he had enough for 10 more aircraft.
No
Is Robs Lamploughs under rebuild to fly?
My father served at Wickenby as a pilot with 626 Sqdn and I was made very welcome there many years ago when bad weather blew in all of a sudden and I had to make a precautionary landing.
How is the book coming along G-ORDY ?
Finishing touches as we speak Sopwith. Trying to sort out the final photos … which is why I’m on the prowl for a couple!
This is the scheme I’m looking for for PZ865

A little googling shows a pic posted in a previous thread:

last post on the page.
Problem was I needed photographer’s permission to use in the book. Happily the Forum came up with a selection within a few minutes!
Now – another one – how about PZ865 in its SEAC markings as “Q” please?
I was discussing TSR2 at BAe Heritage, Farnborough, last week. It would be a very good idea to get in touch with them.
But if you come down to the Brenzett Aerojumble on 11 April you could photograph it yourself, of course! 🙂
Indeed – but that’s the wrong side of my deadline Andy!
The project contains parts of 5 Hurricanes, a Mk X, 2 MKXIIs, a Mk I and Mk II. The only known donor aircraft is RCAF 5467. As this is a composite aircraft I don’t think it qualifies as a survivor.
You’d be surprised, it certainly qualifies as a “Project”. I’ll send a PM 🙂
Does your project have an identity? Just wondering if it should be mentioned in my new book, cut-off date fast approaching now!
G-HURR / 5589 was bought from the insurance company on the express condition that under NO circumstances could it become the basis of a restoration. The identity no longer exists. In the event NONE of it was fit for use as spares and all has been scrapped apart from the crankcase of the Merlin which was sold to be turned into a coffee table. That sale covered the transport costs of bringing the wreck to Thruxton. Phil did have two 40 Ft containers of further parts which have been sold to the new owners. Don’t forget 5385/G-RLEF which was also utilised for spares, the rest was donated to a static project in the UK.
I’m sure a recall both a Spitfire and a Hurricane flying over the churchyard, if so then it wasn’t PZ865 as she was hangared at Dunsfold, last flight of 1964 was 19 September when Bill Bedford flew her home from a display at Biggin Hill, first flight on 1965 was a one hour CofA test flight on 9 April (Bill Bedford again). I do seem to remember Bill Bedford saying something around the time that he was flying PZ865 near Chartwell (don’t know the occasion but he flew it a lot) and he took the opportunity to perform a private flypast, obviously not in January 1965 though.
Raced the Southend on Sea Triathlon in the mid-1990’s and was surprised to find the bike course was on closed roads through the Foulness range. I recall several tanks, at least one Jaguar and an ETPS Phantom, darned windy and sunny day, 30mph on the way out and only 13mph coming back!
