Hello Paul, still posting on AGW?.
dflite.
I know that the flights to Sweden used Mosquito aircraft, not sure on the Swiss flights. The Sweden / UK aircraft were civilian registered I believe, but crew were RAF, is this right?.
Not a base for Nissen, Romney or Maycrete Huts of any description, this type of building had an ordinary Concrete base.
Sprung floor for a gymnasium?, very much doubt it, of the two types of Gymnasium built to Ministry specs for airfields neither had a sprung floor.
They look like roof trusses from a Hanger T1/T2 type ish, but what are they doing at regular spaces set out on the ground?, unless a Hanger was demolished at an early date and the roof trusses were laid out for another use.
The original airfield plans are the only way to identify particular buildings for sure, but these plans are rare as rocking horse dung.
I have not got the ISDN number but one good book to read is “And the walls came tumbling down”
Got a little info on my own website on the RAF Hunsdon pages

Corectomundo!
It was filmed by a Mossie belonging to the official film section of the RAF.
I have been to Amiens Prison and to Pickard and Broadleys crash site. both are marked for rememberance. This year saw a memorial service held at the old airfield at Hunsdon to mark the anniversary of the raid. Later this year our small group are to erect a permanent memorial to mark the airfield and squadrons of RAF Hunsdon, the Mosquito museum are donating a prop blade for incorporation into the structure.
The USN operated from Dunkeswell Devon during WW2

While we are on the subject of overfly’s in the Essex area, I keep seeing a Chinnook (yeah yeah, I know its a fling wing 🙂 )every Friday passing over Harlow/ Nazeing heading towards North London, always seems like an hour before it’s heading back North again. Anyone have an idea where it goes every week?.

There was also the Dornier DO17 that gently landed itself at Shotley Essex during the B.O.B, the crew bailed out somewhere near Salisbury I think.
