ok buggerit! here’s my tupenth worth.
When I read about the latest plans to get 558 back in the air the press release plainly stated they have “secured enough funding to START work on bringing it back to airworthiness” or words to that effect…..]
That clearly states they don’t have the money to finish the job….. end of argument.

THERE WAS NO ********ING ARGUMENT! ANOTHER VULCAN MIGHT BE ABOUT TO BE SCRAPPED. WHATS THE FLYABLE ONE GOT TO DO WITH IT? DO YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE HURT WHEN YOU SAY THAT? WHY DID YOU BRING UP 558? DOES IT GIVE YOU SATISFACTION TO THINK PEOPLE ARE SADDENED BY WHAT YOU INSISTENTLY SAY? STOP THIS ******* BULL**** NOW! YOU ARE BORING!

NOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE ONE AT BLACKPOOL? CAN IT AND WILL IS BE SAVED?

i hope some part of it survives, I’m not a fan of jets really, but Vulcans are pretty cool

Check Air Pictorial December 1978: Ark Royal and after – a farewell article with a good selection of monochrome pictures, including several 892 NAS F-4s (including one showing three ‘zapped’ by the USN, one with a ‘COLONIAL NAVY’ title on the fuselage!).

So the USN resprayed RN Phantoms? for a laugh loik?

    Any photos?

Why on earth would they be scrapped?! I cannot see that happening somehow. Are they scared someone is going to remake the film?

How could I forget the Glad? WWII opening sequence the JU52 pursued by belgian marked gladiator and TFC french Hawk 75. Put the smoke on one of its engines. A long elegant solo

Use 2 more messerschmitts in the BofB section instead. Get them from the US or Germany or wherever there are messerschmitts/buchons these days.

How’s this for a fantasy airshow?

Nothing modern RAF or USAF. They’re boring and all off making a mess in the middle east (no offence to their people) Where possible I have tried to stick to aircraft which actually exist and are/could be made available for airshow work.

    Aircraft presented in chronological order:

    WWI section

1920s/30s civilian/military aircraft-sure OW could help there as well!

    WWII section-Europe
    Pacific
    Russian front
    Singleton displays
    USAAF B17 and P47/51
    BBMF Dak
    BBMF 3

    Post-War section-RAF immediate post war
    Korea
    RAF cold-war
    Nam
    Vulcan
    Modern Section

    Ray Hanna closes the show

Some ORIGINAL WWI stuff, possibly a three-ship Brisfit/Avro 504/SE5 formation. None of these 2/3 scale jobs! or fibreglass german things with dummies in the back! Maybe let that black Dr1 come and do a solo, but lets face it-ITS NOT REAL!

A few of the Old Warden based 1930s racers go round the pylons, or just do circuits. Mew gull, arrow active etc.

Aerobatic displays in Stearman (NO Crunchies! although one of the wing-walkers is very hot) Jungmann/Jungmeister, at least one flown by Anna Walker (?), Tiger moth. formation flypast by all 3.

All the axis/lookalike aircraft I can find. And some kind of un-PC mock dogfight, why not? say 2 hurricances, 2 spits and a couple of 108s and the Buchon, while the french-based JU52 comes in low and slow for a few passes, maybe ending up with a spit or 2 on its tail. Not authentic but creates a good image. Be entertaining as well as reminding people that yeah-there was combat in these machines not just aerobatics. But none of these massive numbers of British aircraft chasing singleton 108s or 109s around the sky, as i have seen a couple of times.

Then bring in something to represent the pacific struggle-Catalina,with SEAC-marked spit and P40 on each wing, Dutch B25 and P39 Airacobra escort Hellcat-this does a solo display or possibly a mock-dogfight with a zero if we can get one from the states.

A tribute to the US in Europe-Mustang, B17, P47/p51 in 78th FG markings. But keep it breif cos we’ve seen it before! The mustang goes on to fly a solo display.

Mock dogfight or something between a Yak, Polikarpov I-15 or I-16, red star hurricane and one of the new build FW190s, and a big commentary/programme feature about new-build historic aircraft.

A couple of interesting singletons-Swordfish, Storch, Bestmann, Meteor

    BBMF Dak parachute drop.

BBMF classic 3-ship concludes WWII section.

Korean War- MiG 15 (if we can find one) with the F86 dogfight, Flypast by Marines Corsair and sharksmouth-painted Mustang. F86 ‘shot down’-Medevac demo with one of those little bubble helicopters in a MASH-stylee.

Post war RAF-Vampire, Venom, Griffon spit formation flypast or 3. Tailchase.

    Sea Fury Solo

Cold War Jets-Canberra arrives with four hunters, 2 on each wing, does a pass or two then Hawker hunters fill the sky, tailchases, fast passes, a close formation flypast and a parachute assisted landing.

Then the Vulcan if it ever gets off the ground. Possibly in the company of the sea Vixen.

2+Skyraiders, OV-10s, and a couple of Hueys representing the Vietnam war. Lots of pyros. Lots of noise.

A full on display by a Boeing 747.

Dutch F16 and French Mirage 2000 (I just like the way the F16 displays and the Mirage is a beautiful looking aircraft imho. (politicalism softens) and a Sea Harrier. Because they are good.

Ray Hanna closes the show in classic style in a warbird of his choice.

I could get quite into this airshow planning business!

    Nice post Phil

I’m well curious about this VE Day flypast. Seeing the two ansons together sounds like a rare treat in itself.

Also they usually fly over my house en route to the London Flypast

    Build a memorial man!

it should be done. The guys deserve one, mistake or no.

I think theres usually mistakes involved when people die tragically young. especially in warfare.

Whoever made the swastikas comment was really dumb. Not as dumb as the BNP granted, but seriously!

I post regularly on a board to discuss politics and u learn to ignore the fash very quickly, or lose the whole point of the forum. This hasnt happened here. Odd. The opinions of you guys always surprise me, have to say sometimes i’m impressed. But I’ve seen politics-related forums go down because everyone wants a crack at the nazi. Dont do it! its not worth it!

Talk about planes with ‘im. otherwise ignore ‘im. ‘es not worth it.

The VE day flypast should be well good.

BBMF will be bringing 2 fighters according to the other thread, does look like they;re minimising the singlem engine content if its all Cats and Ansons.

    Are there even two ansons?
