I too am out of here, heading to the new DD location.

I may have only signed up relatively recently but I have been enjoying this thread for over 7 years.

The saddest thing about this debacle is that when questioned Key was not even able to answer the question of what the benifits of this new format would be. So it seems that there has been no tangible positives to balance out the enormous negatives that are now driving so many away.

    Thanks to all the contributers.

I like proper, functional lighting so I can see the aircraft & displays and photograph them. The trend towards arty farty “mood” lighting is very frustrating. I don’t go to a museum for the “mood”, I go there to see what is on display.

I thought all boomerangs came back?

If it doesn’t come back we just call it a stick……….

Love that last pic of the Sea Fury in Duxman’s post 146, an aspect rarely photographed with the gear out.

Over 30 years ago, news of the visit to Canberra Airport of a particularly rare aircraft (albeit a modern copy of a truly historic machine), drew me to cycle over from the other side of town, with camera in the bag

Wow Don! That is a blast from the past for me. In your second photo to the right you will see a head in between the 2 guys closest to the aircraft. That is me! I was 16 and doing work experience with the local maintenance organisation at the time. Being a Vintage aircraft fanatic I was really excited to see the Southern Cross arrive and thrilled to be allowed to assist in refuelling her.

    Cheers!

Posted on Facebook by Classic Aircraft Photography today.

Took this photo this afternoon during the very first test flight of Jerry Yagens P-39F Airacobra.
Congratulations to Jerry and the team at Pioneer Aero Restorations who bought this very rare machine back to life.
Pilot was Frank Parker and the photo taken from Harvard 90 flown by Dean Beverley.
