Halifax cockpit project progress
Hi all,
In case you might think what that daft Dutch youngman is actually doing about that Halifax cockpit project. Here are some pics of progress made the past few weeks.
1. pilot overhead panel (made today with an ex-Fokker employee)
2. fire extinguisher pushbutton housing
3. compass mounting
4 and 5 throttle box trunk. It only needs one item to complete it
All items made from drawings and using original parts and fittings when available.

I just have to share.
After three and a half years, I tonight test fitted the instrument panels to my sea hawk cockpit for the very first time. What a difference it makes to see all the goodies in their proper place!
The cross-rail on which the main panel and gunsight are mounted is badly damaged and I thought I would have major problems mounting the panels. Instead, they just popped right into place.
Boy am I stoked!! Will post some piccies in the next few days.

Done Sir. Using my GUI and my MMI with my ADSL, I checked my PM’s ASAP and RSVP’d using the WYSIWYG UI.

The original plan to move the nose with Dave T’s assistance has unfortunately failed. This isn’t anybody’s fault. Just one of those things..
…er, now thats not exactly true as read. 😡
It’s merely a case of the trailer ~was~ heading north non-stop, but the guy doing it (he’s enroute to his daughters wedding this half term) is flying to Scotland instead.
However, although no ones contacted me or asked me to do so, i’ve nearly re-arranged for it to be collected & driven non-stop after the school break.
It’s a shame this has crossed back to this thread, but with the demise of the ‘Save the Shack’ thread, i guess it cant be helped ?

Mr Rusty’s nose is still in deepest Cornwall as we speak, bought and paid for by myself. (What on earth made me spend a day travelling to the bottom of the country to buy some scrap metal?? Emotions, dear boy, nothing rational at all).

The latest plan is for me to collect it myself in the near future and bring it to North Wales where the manager of the museum at Caernarfon Airworld has kindly agreed to allow it to be displayed amongst other Shack items in his care.
B-17 man, I think what you have accomplished so far is truly fantastic. Well done.
P.S. anybody got any Shack bits to fill a nose section? No decent offer refused.

Thanks for the comments, My wife thinks I am mad building this, but when I get the seats in she will be able to sit in it and appreciate it a lot more.
Just getting the instrument panel to fit at the moment, hopefully have a few new photos next week, Would like to get it to Cockpitfest and also the Debach open day/hanger dance in June

Hi Dave,
No, not yet. This will be the very rare Halifax version where the pilot didn’t have a throttle box but ordered the flight engineer to pull some cables manually to get the power needed. Was also much more easier on the aluminium supply which was needed to repair the Lancasters. :diablo:
