From looking at the pictures that you posted – you already have! 🙂

It would be nice to see even more Stirling items dispalyed at this former airfield where 1661 HCU once operated the type.

I’m sure you’d be made very welcome.

Thanks for that Twin Otter,will have to get something together worthy of such a great event first..seen the standard of restoration there and there`s alot to live up to.

Don’t think they would, but I will be visiting them soon so i can always ask.
Peter van Gelderen and one of our volunteers measured the seat and took detailed pics and two examples were made which are now in Peter’s cockpit project. They look very realistic.

I`ve got the fittings to go from the Bombaimers position right back to the Flight Engineer,so I reckon thats about 19 feet long.The initial stage will be just getting the Flight deck sorted out which I`ll take round to the Cockpit Fest in the next couple of years.I have thought about possibly making the section as separate displays initially ,ie. Flightdeck,Bombaimers position,Navs,Radio op and Flight Engineer.I`ve got the Radio Operators Desk coming to mount the 1154/55 on and all the Flight Engineers panels are done apart from labelling ( BIG!!).There`s the sets of Flight Engineers control cOcks/ wheels to cast up yet which I`ll also do a set for the Stirling Project.I have all the seats for the positions apart from Pilots seats(Hopefully the Project can help me out there),so it`s basically making up the Fuselage structure now.Space would have bee an issue if it was a Home project but I`ve got an industrial unit with plenty of space now solely for the purpose of building this thing which is half the battle,I`ll be posting Progress photos this Summer so watch this space !!.

Glad to see your Projectis coming along nicely Martin. In response to your comment Cees, I think that our projects are complimentary, I suppose because of the space issues, ours is likely to be a bit larger:eek: But hopefully between the 2 of us we’ll get sorted

Yes, you can buy a nice car for the amount that you have spent once the project is finished (same here).
Co-operation again is the best thing to get results.

Hi Cees,Yes this is my own stuff,tying to keep this all original but I`m not sure just how far to go in restoring the bits I`m putting into the rebuild.I don`t want to restore the fittings to nthe point of them looking `new`,yet want it to look far better than this `scrappy` presentation.I`ve got alot more than this now,all the pilots auto pilot panels and stuff for the port side cockpit wall,have bits of canopy but would love an escape hatch..missed one on ebay a while back and kicking myself ever since..while it`s there GET IT is my motto from now on.I`ve got some stuff on loan to the Stirling Project and they`re making a really nice job of the stuff they`re doing at Wyton.Hopefully got some throttlebox parts coming soon and trying to get the project to knock up some seats for me whilst they`re doing their seats. Getting there slowly but surely..taken years and cost a small fortune !!

Stirling Cockpit Rebuild

Sorry for the slapdash presentation but here`s a few pics of some of the stuff I`ve gathered for my Stirling cockpit rebuild.I`m trying to keep it 100% original but the instrument panel here is a copy..the rest original.I`ve got alot more of the cockpit but can`t show it here in situ floating in thin air.As you can see alot is bent and battered from recoveries and when assembled the cockpit will comprise of many different aircraft.Still got the seats and throttlebox to sort out but they`re on their way..as is the cockpit canopy and windscreen which I have a great deal of..still looking for an original escape hatch though !!![ATTACH]170889[/ATTACH]

Yes most certainly. Its a bit faded but should polish up ok. With Tim’s help ( aka ‘Fouga23’ ), it’s just a question of finding and refitting the main missing bits (instrument panels, seats, stick tops etc….) but progress is already being made with that 😀
