I was wondering about the state/progress of the “forum” shackleton nose section. Any news ??

I have been working on a few small things in my Jaguar, one of which was getting the internal placards back up to scratch after years of water and sun damage. This is what the radio quick ref chart looks like now and then a new one I am having made, the mistakes in ‘mill’ and ‘opps’ will be corrected in the final version, unfortunately an identical font match was not possible. Does anyone know the freq’s for Bruggen Approach or Clutch Radar?

Although the engine does run this Scout will only ever be a static display piece. It would be nice to make the cockpit as live as possible but I do live in a built up area on the outskirts of S/London so unless I can convince all my neighbours to go out at the same time……:rolleyes:. If you put a “Nimbus Engine” search on “You Tube” there is various video’s of people ground running these excellent engines to 25% power, they sound superb but they do make a din.

Attached a photo of my own Fokker G.1 project, this spring I started with the wooden centresection and hope to start with the rest of the fuselage in the near future. At the photo the instrumentpanel is missing, I keep it at home to avoid any damage. There has also been an update on the site about the redesign of the G.1: www.fokker-g1.nl

Westland Scout XP853

A couple of updated photo’s of my Westland Scout project which I bought on eBay back in 2005. The original roof had been badly damaged and was totally out of shape, Thankfully I managed to locate & purchase a brand new complete roof section which is now fitted. After sitting on a rickety wooden trolley we built to last no more than a few weeks, it is finally back on its proper undercarriage 3 years later! The Nimbus engine is to be fitted in the next month along with the windscreens and I hope to get to grips with the cockpit rebuild in the new year.

I have a crate full of misc. French cockpit instruments, switches etc, that I believe are circa 1930s. The one in center/bottom of photo 2 is most likely earlier. Anyobody see anything they need or recognize? Will gladly sell or swap. I have more than items shown here.

Jaguar XX977 update

Hello everyone, I thought I would post a few pics of how the Jaguar is going, I have managed to aquire a few bits such as a PSP and cushion, seat harness, standby compass, stick top, NAVWASS control and some extra instruments. The most exciting thing though is I pulled the moving map display out and found it was in perfect working order and even contained a film, I do not have power to the cockpit but by shining a torch through from the back I could get a decent image on it – the pic didn’t turn out so well though – the map is currently on Catania in Sicily.

Cees whats the history on the seat cusion with it being 1944? Absolutely stunning work as well !!!

A few years ago a contact of mine acquired a number of original RAF seat cushions with the year of manufacture stamped 1944 etc. These cushions were similar to the one in the seat well of IWM’s Halifax cockpit PN323. Normally these bomber seats were intended for the seat type parachutes but these were generally changed for the observer type chest packs, as they were less cumbersome to get into the aircraft IIRC.
