Kermit Weeks , He-111 is from the movie, also David Tallichete old one is from the movie.

Most of the 111 were scrap after there service, but I’ve heard reports that in Madrid is the remains of atleast three but never could confirm this report. As for the 109s Connie still has 6 including the Rare Two Seater. This is the one that Galland flew with Jonnie Johnson during the making of the film.

the pics are excellant however the top pic of the mock stuka is inaccurate as this aircraft was made from a trainer (a prentice i think) for the film and was test flown but was found to be almost uncontrolable and left the aircraft weak, so all the stuka shots in the movie are models unfortunately.

So the 111’s – these are obviously powered by Merlins, but they look to my untutored eye like Lancaster power eggs. Is this correct?

I haven’t quite got to finishing off the bonus disc yet, but the commentry over the film had me swearing at the telly! Don’t who the voice belonged to but he had no idea whatsoever what aircraft he was talking about at any point. Spitfires were Hurricanes, Ju52 was a Stuka etc…

The rest is wonderful, but that one pillock really wound me up!!!

The ‘german’ aircraft for the film were recently (like a year before filming) retired from the spanish airforce and were bought by hamish mchaddie for the film for a small sum (rumour has it £10,000) and after filming most were scrapped or given to any museum who would have them (in the early 70s there were’nt many aviation museums with the space ), as for the he111 in duxford that is also an ex spanish machine but it served in africa (morocco i think see attached wing markings).

Wilson “Connie” Edwards, one of the film’s pilots, has (or had) 6 of them in his hangar in Big Springs, including the two-seater cameraship.

I think most of the Buchons around these days are in the movie! The only one that (supposedly) isn’t is Planes of Fame’s N700E (the Buchon used in Pearl Harbor)

Sounds like a great DVD! I Don’t know if the “He111” stored at Duxford is one that flew in the film? I think you’ll find that the Buchon at Breighton is one of the “Me109s” though.

There’s one in the Cavanaugh Museum collection, and I think one is in a museum in Berlin :confused:

Last time I pre-ordered a DVD from www.play.com it arrived on the Saturday, before the official release on the following Monday.

Wow is right. I have to say it was sure worth the wait for those of you in Region 2. Sounds like the extras will be fantastic. I’m jealous.

The only extra we got was the trailer.
