What do you think?, I think the company was spot on, my own feelings are Unite wade in with ” this is what we want etc” and end of the day what ever happens the Unite union jobs are not at risk.. They were told what would happen if no settlement was forthcoming and it didn’t appear to sink in. Good on the Company sticking to their guns…

Yes, We went there also, I can’t remember the name of it, but they were making a Film there, and it had nothing to do with aircraft, although an “Old airliner had been re-painted, and they were going to “Blow it up, as part of the film. A car chase in and out of the aircraft was going to be part of it as well..

Marvellous, what a find! And presumably he gets his gear from the huge “Boneyard” at Phoenix. I was there many, many years ago and looking at aerials now it seems to have grown to about twice the size I remember. I’d love to go back.

Yes, I went to a place called, “The Graveyard in A.Z. when I was over there, the chap has loads of radial engines from B17s and B29s, and you can buy what you want, providing you remove it, then pay him for it. I managed to get a set of piston rings that were brand new for an R1830, for about a fiver!!

I suppose they have more space to be generous towards preservation and probably pots more money from private wealthy owners and/or sponsors.

I was referring to buildings in the States, as well as the aircraft they have preserved.

I don’t entirely agree with that, you only have to go to some of the Museums in the States, and see what they have preserved and kept, and flying oldies as well.

Hi All,
Tupe is possibly is something the owners want to bring in ? along the lines of changing every contract to Zero Hrs that and the ending of final pay pensions but is normally enforced when one company buys another ?

Bit sad realy when one thinks of it, Why do we seem to demolish most of our heritage?. At least the Panton Bros, (Unfortunately, one less now) have done their best in keeping E. Kirkby alive and running, be nice to see “Just Jane” fitted with her new engines, and possibly in the near future, flying.

Not much Linc. He was a youngster when arrived there in 1944 and he said was an ops training base with Spits and I think he said they had a few Masters for basic training. He was more interested in showing where parts of the airfield had been now covered by refinery, manufacturing and other buildings. Before heading for the pub, of course!!
Baz – good to know there is a memorial there.
