Just heard on Fox News that a 19 year old Israeli soldier has been kidnapped by Palestinian militants near Gaza. The Israeli PM is attempting to get the authorization for a massive military operation to get the captured soldier back.
Apparently the militants used some type of tunnel to get into Israel and capture this guy.
I’m praying for the soldier’s safe return….
If anyone hears anything about this story please post updates. I just saw it on TV.

To be fair i think the isrealis know what they are doing they have dealt with situations much bigger than this with higher odds and won.

If Israel had done EVERYTHING you ask, the arabs would STILL hate them and want to destroy them. The simple fact is that the arabs have no intention of EVER living in peace with Israel.

it is Isreals fault why they are surrounded in hate, if they wasnt so dammed aggressive and give back land that dosnt belong to them, give Palastine its indapendence, in a way they have brought terrorisam to themselves. its the same as us in the west. if a group of people cant have a “proper” war they will use terroisam. if i had my way the Arabs and Israelies would be put as far away as possible from each other, say one on Murcury and the other on Pluto… it is a great pity the Isrealies and Arabs are great people, but they keep letting themselves down with all this fighting and hatered. to me they are all as bad as one another..

I doubt iran would directly get involved. It would only require 2-3 AC’s of USN to bring them to there knees. Why bother going in like iraq when you could just wipe them out from thousands of miles.

Did Russia sell the Iranians the TOR yet? Israel would be in some serious **** if they even try anything with Iran. Not cause of the the TOR or anything, but Iran actually has *some* weapons.

I predict that by sundown Sunday the Israelis will have established a buffer zone 50 km into southern Lebanon and Southern Syria. Syria will be included in retaliation for acting as the conduit for Iranian arms and money to the Hezbollah terrorists attacking Haifa from southern Lebanon. If the Syrians want to go hard, that Israelis will be sitting in Damascus a week from today. If the Iranians want to send “volunteers”, we’ll see F-15Is over Tehran and Qom in 3 weeks.
Dear Member,
It would be harder than imagined. For one after you come off of the Golan Heights going north you have the anti-Lebanon mountains on one side and the lava fields (a no-go area for tanks, etc) on the road to Damascus. It is a choke point which artillery rockets with bomblets and AT mines can easily close off. Not to say Israel can not do it, but it will be extremely hard going with causalties.
As to raiding Iran. How? I wish someone would look at a map and check Israelis air to air refueling ability. To reach Iran the only way they can do it without passing over other territory is to go down the Red Sea, around Yemen and Oman and up the Persian Gulf. And for the record I doubt, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Iraq or Saudi Arabia will give over flight rights.
More likely Israel will use the Jericho III ballistic rocket with a conventional warheads.

So Hizbollah threaten to move the captives to Iran and the Israeli’s destroy the runway of the airport ha ha…maybe that will teach them to keep their mouths shut next time 😀
Dear Members,
The problem is that Israel and everyone else knows what happened to the Beirut CIA station chief William Buckley when he was kidnapped and sent to the main hospital in Terhran, Iran. He was basically tortured and the doctors there kept him in shape for it. Weeks later all US agents in Lebanon started dropping dead. But it seems the Iranians went to far and he died. Many in the CIA believed that the US should have destroyed that hospital and to h*ll with any innocents.
Last the main worry that Israel has with Syria is the SS-21 which is extremely accurate and the Syrians with Iranian help have developed a reported VX warhead for it.

Hamas appearently gets most/much of its funding from Iran.
Is it just a coincidence that when Iran wants to whip up Islamic support and anti-Israel/West feelings over the missile issue, Hamas pulls this stunt knowing full well how Israel would react?
If you don’t buy that theory, shirley Iran must have some leverage with Hamas…if it wanted to defuse the situation, it would tell Hamas to hand back the soldiers.

Does Syria still have military units based in Southern Lebanon or have all those units been moved back within Syria’s borders?? Does Syria still operate SAM systems in Lebanon?

i have no clue how u managed to squeeze in terrorists into the debate of wars between east and west. I suppose world history for you began on 911 or with the establishment of the state of israel.
Last time I looked the title of this thread wasn’t “the history of the Middle East Cesspool for the last 3000 years.”

Nope just pointing out simple facts. Your average terrorist can find just about anything to justify his behavior. And it’s always somebody else’s fault.

I had the crusades in mind — there was no israel then— but u you got so emotional and worked up—you could hold down the top anchor job at fox news.

Yeah and if Israel was gone the Muslims would just find something else to whine about. Your average terrorist might actually have to get a J-O-B and you KNOW that’ll never happen because then they wouldn’t be able to chop people’s heads off. Islam is an excuse for these ba$tards, nothing more.

why mid-east why not just usa —– once usa is gone —israel will be wrapped up within hours — i think they would wrap up themselves neatly–switch off the lights and leave the keys with Jordon.
but then again why waste a huge asteriod on a huge country like usa—- tiny one on israel will end the whole dispute once and for all ( but will it really? — west will find some other way to needle the muslims in the mid-east ).

If attacking Iran would have been so simple i wonder why USA ( the mighty super power) has not done it already for all the decades of iranian needling.
Cost/benefit.

thats the point i was getting at… what would happen if Iran attacked Isreal, America would be there like a shot, in one way or another.. i am not agreeing with the terrorists, in my opinion all terroists should be wiped out.. but i dont think this gives Israel or eny other country the right to bomb the **** out of a nation just because there is a few terrorists living there..
Thing is how would Iran attack Israel? If they start lobbing missiles or flying jets over Iraq they’re probably going to be in for some hurt.

what can you say? lebanon asked for it.. They got over the civil war, Syria and Israel withdrew. Lebanon could’ve practiced more authority and disband hezbollah and strengthen their authority over the entire country but they didn’t.. Hezbollah continues to exist, and Lebanon has yet to build a credible defence which continues to make them hapless to Syria and Israel, and continue to rely on Hezbollah.
