Out of the current lot, who is PM material? I would say that Cameron is probably the best of a rotten bunch, followed by Farage. Clegg is somewhere on the horizon. I won’t even mention the Labour leaders name, as Abu Hamza would make a better PM than him. 😀

Yes you and I and a few hundred thousand others could be that single-minded. Half a million even – let’s really take a flight of fancy. But even then the result will be to push the dismal Ed and his ramshackle Eurofile cohorts towards the levers of power.

I simply cannot see the remotest scintilla of a chance of UKIP gaining such ascendancy. And the other, not insignificant point to make is that there is no majority in the UK for complete withdrawal. At least not by way of the last two polls.

Set aside all other considerations. Be singleminded. You know very well, as do most of us, that we will not be leaving the EU unless it is courtesy of UKIP. Dave won’t oblige, neither will Ed.

With UKIP, this nation has a clear chance, which otherwise does not reliably exist, to jettison the EU. Like you, I’m aware of the ‘ifs, buts and might be’s’, I’m aware of the odds but, we must try. The stakes are so high that we must take every step open to us to give the people who follow us a life free from the chicanery, corruption, and deceit of the EU.

Give Nigel a chance, he deserves that much, if only because all the others have failed.

Which of course they cannot do unless elected to govern so we are left with them being thought of as fit to govern. I find the prospect of them achieving that in the next few months as about as likely as me being in the England World Cup XV!!

I never suggested you hadn’t donated but the stamp of emphatic support for a political party is membership, surely?

Despite the uncertainty of the arithmetic I still dread the likelihood of the “right” vote being diluted resulting in single party or more likely a coalition of strongly pro-EU parties forming the government for the next five years.

I’m pleased you cued me in with ‘lingering doubts’. I have more than ‘lingering doubts’ about the sincerity of the Tory protestations that they will provide us with a straight ‘yes’ or ‘no’, in or out referendum sometime in the future.

I have lingering doubts about the accuracy of the quoted percentage level of monthly or, annual national inflation, the ONS keeps trotting out. I have lingering doubts about the truthfulness of end of term educational grades that are the scene of so much student jubilation. I have lingering doubts about the efficiency of defence procuration; the amount of government spending on most capital projects; I have lingering doubts about the capacity of most politicians to discharge their political responsibilities in an honest and trustworthy manner.

And so on. You ask if I have lingering doubts ? Of course I have. UKIP must prove themselves as fit to govern or, to be thought of as fit to govern.

As for me personally donating ? Done and dusted ! Several times.

My support and that of friends and relatives who are like minded, rests upon UKIP’s promise to remove this country from the EU. Politically nothing, absolutely nothing, is as important as this single aim.

Not sure that blistering is word I would have chosen. This time turnout was about 7,000 less than 2010 and Reckless polled about 7,000 less than he did last time. The number of candidates was greater this time and his percentage share was the same as when he last stood. All of which suggests that although there was an element of protest a great many of those who voted for him last time did so this time. So a vote for him or a vote for UKIP? A bit of both probably but with a majority of just under 3,000 compared to nearly 10,000 last time, hardly a blistering win.

But I have noted your reticence to discuss further your reluctance to join the party…..a heartily commendable reluctance, if I may say!!

Call me old fashioned but I think that UKIP have certainly struck gold. Not content with a blistering win in Rochester they can now claim the scalp of a leftie MP. Shadow Attorney General no less !

She evidently saw something she didn’t like centered around a white van and a red cross. This from a woman who fits to the description of 4 x 4 with speech patterns to match.

As the wind of change becomes a gale, so will the media change. But, yes, I do agree, they are anti UKIP. I do not include the Guardian because they aren’t really ‘the media’.

Let me sooth your anxiety. If, in the worst possible case, UKIP find themselves in Parliament with a clear majority but no particular other policies apart from our removal from the EU’s embrace, the country will continue to function exactly as before – seamlessly.

Eventually and in good time – the best possible way, UKIPs policies will slide into place.

The SNP said exactly the same thing and it was dismissed as porridge gargle, probably by ‘your lot’.
