Please, just pray with the rest of us that Ed the Red doesn’t make it to No. 10.

The only thing I pray for is that there are no UKIP MP’s elected. That would make my day on May 8th, but I may be disappointed.
I can’t personally influence the outcome of my constituency as it is so rabidly tory, but I do hope my nasty currently ex-MP gets a fright so I may, just may, vote tactically. Still not sure what to do.

You may well be disapointed about Ed, apparently the bookies are now puting him ahead of Cameron as the most likely next prime minister

From the increasingly hysterical headlines in the Torygraph it seems this point is sinking home.

Farage was widely condemned by those wishing to earn themselves brownie points, especially that Scottish woman, when
he brought up the subject of health tourism.

He suggested that treating foreigners for free on the NHS was not right and that we should, like 46 other countries, not admit foreigners who are HIV positive.

Even Douglas Carswell is worried, and he is the most sensible and ‘normal’ of the lot of them.
Dave was also asking everyone to use tactical voting in his piece in the Sunday Times yesterday. That’s a really positive message so close to the election isn’t it!?

For the first time since I have been eligible, I am not going to vote. I’m no longer going to endorse a system that seems to elevate some of the very worst in our society to the top, and give them huge salaries, multiple homes etc. Some of them even have the audacity to believe that being an MP isn’t a full time job!

I think that applies to all of the parties – there is a video doing the rounds on Facebook showing Labour candidates who cannot (or will not) discuss their policies.

All of which begs the obvious question – why is there such a paucity of quality candidates? My question is rhetorical!!

It could be that the pool of candiates that is the problem, not the selection procedures. If the pool is poor, then however careful the selection, you are still going to end up with poor candidates.

There is a phrase about polishing that comes to mind

I still haven’t, as yet, managed to read a copy of the extended version of UKIP’s manifesto. The press reports, almost without exception, are supportive of the content but, and rightly so, excoriate UKIP’s very obviously inadequate selection procedures that have thus saddled UKIP with very poorly performing parliamentary candidates.

I would have thought that they would have taken extreme care over the selection process, knowing that they are in effect ‘decorating UKIP’s shop window’.
