What is more disturbing, is the fact that thousands of people will not be able to vote tomorrow. As they have
have not received their postal votes, and cant get to polling stations. Even if they did, once registered for a
postal vote, you can’t turn up in person. Although they are talking about a last minute change of rules.

On the available evidence, I would tend to agree that Nige himself, personally, is not racist. Edit: since I don’t know any UKIP supporters personally, unless of course they are soft kippers and aren’t owning up, I have no direct evidence to draw on to reinforce or refute this position

Bruce – indeed there will but I believe I am right in saying that under the current constitutional arrangements for fixed term parliaments there is no mechanism for a dissolution other than the inability of the government of the day to pass the Queens Speech. A loss of a vote of confidence does not automatically trigger a dissolution. It is not inconceivable to suggest Labour and Tories voting together to kill off outlandish SNP proposals. Interesting times to come, indeed, but I am not sure that they will be the best for the nation

Nearly but not quite. If a government loses a confidence vote, an alternative prime minister gets a 14 day period to form another government. If then another confidence vote is lost an early election will be called.

Charlie, even if the Queens speech is won, there will be plenty of opportunity for a vote of substance at any point.

We’ve been watching a fair game of politics over the past few weeks. It is likely to turn really dirty in the case of a hung parliament where no clear majority can be formed, even in coalition.

I’m not surprised by the tone of the D. Tel. piece. They’ve been anti UKIP thru’ out the campaign. For them, the threat of disenchanted former Tory voters, now voting UKIP, was a threat too far. So, none of us should be surprised by the D. Tel attitude and if we pretend we are then, then we are deceiving no one but ourselves.

Anyway, we shall soon see for ourselves. At the end of this year’s first general election.

Well exactly – not sure what your point is.

Another election can only take place if the Queens Speech on May 27th is lost. Before then we should have a government which can command a majority of the House. Some odd temporary bedfellows might appear to make sure of it!!

In the election, UKIP are estimated as getting around 4million votes, and may only get a handful of seats.
The SNP on the other hand, will get around 1million votes, and could get up to 50 seats.
