Nigel rises again- Is this the second coming?

It happens on the run up to every election.

He’s a bit late – some of us said it here before the election campaign even started!

Cameron is getting really worried now, coming out with the mantra, “A vote for UKIP is a vote for Labour”
It seems to be the best he can come out with. A certain sign of desperation.

Cheeky article? Didn’t IDS say that voting for UKIP and Nigel is like writing Britains suicide note? Bit OTT I would say, but the odious IDS has a habit of being blinkered in his approach when he ‘believes’ what he says to be truth in the face of good reliable evidence to the contrary.

So the Telegraph is quite willing to take UKIP’s cash and then have at least two very negative articles about the party in the same edition. Strange, that didn’t happen with HSBC earlier in the year. Double standards at the Telegraph?

That will have reached a major slice of the electorate, or perhaps not, around my neck of the woods they are getting there PA equipped cars ready AGAIN.

Double page advert for UKIP in the D. Tel. That cannot have been cheap. So that’s where all my donations have gone. Featuring also, a well written and restrained piece that neatly summarise the appeal of UKIP.

Cheeky front page article in the same paper by Duncan Smith. When I wrote to hime concerning pensions he couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge, never mind reply with a reasoned acceptance or rebuttal of my point. so, he gets two fingers.

The problem we have with local elections is, turning up to vote and not having a clue as to who
the candidates are.

The only one we have seen neither sight nor sound of is UKIP, probably pull the same stunt as at the last locals, that was to have about half a dozen vehicles driving round and round with PA systems at full blast, didn’t last too long as locals stopped the car in our area, then informed the driver to turn it down, go elsewhere or finish up wearing his system.

I’ve had the lot – in fact I think I’ve had two lots from most of them.

I think Mrs CH mentioned something yellow from the Liberals the other day but that’s the sum of it to date – thankfully!

I have had no election material through the door at all so far. Nada, Niente, niets, rien, zip, sod all etc. etc.
I guess this could be because we are in such a safe seat and I have not signed up to support any party.

So vote for them rather than staying away at least that way you are making a protest against the shower that are there now.

Any future coalition whatever its form will be as legitimate a government the recent one, with the MP’s who form it elected democratically on an individual basis. I do know of people who are hoping for a hung parliament as coalition has tended to act as a moderating influence on the major party. I am not entirely convinced of this argument personally.

Yes but as it stands at the moment there isn’t going to be a democratically elected government !

There is going to be a government put in place by an agreement with one or more parties that might well have opposing views !

I am sure there are plenty of quite nice Tory ex-MP’s.

My wish is for there to be a considerable rise in the numbers of ex Tory MPs.

Who mentioned class warfare? Or is it just that whilst coming from a firmly middle class background as I do those on the right find it impossible to believe that I could possibly have a social conscience? I am sure many people have prospered in ‘toryland’ and will vote for them, for goodness sake quite a few of my friends probably will, but I am not one of them.

I don’t like what I have seen of Ed Milliband much to be honest, but I am not willing to demonise him.

To compare a totalitarian state to a potential democratically elected government is laughable. Although interestingly, the Mail seems obsessed with Kim Jong Un, there seems to be a piece about him on their website most weeks.

Edit: just in case you were wondering about my ‘nasty’ MP comment, I was talking about him unpleasant as a person, not for being a Tory. He lives in my village. I am sure there are plenty of quite nice Tory ex-MP’s.

I must apologise. Anyone who lives, survives and even prospers in Toryland deserves our sympathy and respect. It is just my opinion so, practically worthless but, I imagine that for someone living in Milliballgravia and experiencing the excesses of class warfare permeating the very air you breathe, is very probably almost as bad.

Trekkie, have you considered the open spaces of North Korea as a refuge and repository for someone with your political leanings ? I’m convinced that you would receive very sympathetic treatment.

Every time the Independent is mentioned it makes me reach for my Daily Mail.

It looks certain we are headed for a shambolic hung parliament. A desperate Miliband will grasp at his once-in-a-lifetime moment and struggle on in an increasing mess for a few months to two years.

The only thing I can see that would lighten my gloom would be for Al Murray to romp home.

Heres a scenario – minority government in charge with no mandate; go back to the country within 6 months, Boris as leader of the Tories. What then?

Incidentally, Labour should have won this hands down. This was always going to be a hugely unpopular government as they had to fix a problem. That they can, at present do little better than last time is a massive failure on their part.
