Rearwin Flight: 5 March 2005

Well race fans, time for some New Yearโ€™s resolutions. As I will be in the Popham area in March Iโ€™ve decided that a flight in the Rearwin would be just the thing. Of course, knowing Melvcock he will still be fidgeting with this and that, doing endless taxi test, running up and down the runway just asking for an accident. Anything except flying the silly thing. Well, come the 5th of March the Rearwin will fly. I may be making its FIRST flight, but the Rearwin will fly. Has anyone got a seat cushion to help me reach the rudder peddles?

Oh, and youโ€™re all invited out for coffee and slagging after.

Mr Hiscock,
Go man,GO! all the best to you in your quest to get her airborne.Dont let anyone pressure into doing anything before you or the Rearwin are ready.I wish you luck and I look forward to reading about your success when you do finally fly her.
Good luck and God speed! Tim.

Thanks Tim,

Don’t worry about me being pressured, I don’t even know the meaning of the word! If anyone tries they will get the standard phrase used on all forum members that visit Duxford, y’know the one that involves sex and travel!

Paperwork still with the PFA. A minor question on the W&B on Thursday that was dealt with, off in a moment to tidy up the insides.

Besides, Patty wouldn’t be able to reach the pedals!

As long as the snow isn’t too deep. Can the Rearwin use skis?

Hi Steve

Now Now the Wirraway was stuffed up by pommies dictating how it should be laid out so telling a pommie how a cockpit should be laid out is a little rich so I imagine the “anglisising” of the Rearwin could wind up just as bad – unless Melvyn has applied his logic to it in which case I’m sure it will be fine.

Logic? LOGIC? What is all this logic talk . . .

See you in England next week (if the Red Chinese let me out).

Steve

Are you sure they are not Vermilion?

Looks like this will work out just about right. I will be in England next Monday, ready to see another one of Kansas City’s finest (aircraft, that is, as in Rearwin Aircraft Co. of Kansas City, Kansas) take to the air once again.

I just hope the systems are better than that friggin Wirrrrrraway cockpit.

See you in England next week (if the Red Chinese let me out).

This time next year then

John Tempest from the PFA was down on Friday 11th. The Permit to Test application was here on Tuesday, All paperwork to Miles McCallum, the PFA Inspector, on Friday. Last look over on Saturday and paperwork back yesterday morning. Big up to Miles for a quick turnaround.

Filling in my bits on the paperwork as we speak.

Don’t wish to steal your thunder but I think you’ll find Melv will fly it secretly before that, rather than be under a lot of pressure to fly on the day with everyone watching!

I think you’ll find I am intending to fly earlier, PFA and Weather allowing, for one good reason.

It will annoy Pratterson.

Count me in ๐Ÿ™‚

Jam or cream doughnuts Melv?

Black treacle flapjack please!

Remember we are talking about

a: March
b: England

So, it will be a case of tea and cakes and looking out of the window, just like all other forum visits.
