OK Albert,
No offence, but I beg to differ…

1. It looks good (to me). 2. A b&w isn’t 100% proof – have you better evidence than that? 3. Do you know that they don’t have more (better) info? 4. So what? If it is wrong, that’s not good – but the collection has a better job to do (flying the world’s most historic collection of airworthy aircraft) than keeping pedants like you and I happy with very minor points.

Airbedane has asked, and the commentator has asked for a blown (Canadian) canopy or a lead on the same – they want to carry on getting it to Canadian configuration. In the meantime, deal – it’s a very distinctive Chipmunk.

Please bear in mind that the public (mum, dad & the kids) like colourful a/c – it boosts OW revenue, and that’s what we want, because we want to see these amazing a/c fly, and I don’t care if they are blue with purple spots*, as long as they aren’t nailed to the ground! Yes, they should get it right, but you chose – another 1/2 hour on paint scheme research, or a 1/2 hour on maintenance or rectification, or taking a break after putting on another show which is very hard work? Easy call, isn’t it. Let’s see the big pic.

As for SVAS, im off to find out a bit more. i should listen more to the commentators…they are always banging on about SVAS! and the Chippie being in the wrong colours! someone PLEASE paint it! the guys doing my head in moaning about it!!…gimme a brush I’ll paint it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If people are going to paint aircraft in authentic schemes, they MUST be right! I supplied Shuttleworth with all the reference photos for the Tutor. Although they are b/w, it is quite obvious the top decking should be RED

As for the Chipmunk, well say no more! Someone somewhere thinks no one will notice!

Does anyone feel the £15:00 entry fee is a bit on the steep side?

Went with Mrs and by the time we had bought a programme and a bite to eat it turned into a £50 evening out! Don’t get me wrong i love OW but the first two shows of the year haven’t left me with that warm feeling :confused:

To compound the issue we went with two friends who had never been before, id spent all winter convincing them that they ought to go, so they did but i get the feeling they are in no hurry to go back. 🙁

I don’t remember last years evening shows being £15:00 a pop??!!??

Tickets for DX D-Day show i believe are only £18:00 but there is a huge difference between OW and DX!

Fully expect to be shot down in flames over this one but im just voicing an opinion.

Sorry to go off topic a little but heres another(ex Lecomber) Extra, this time with 45 degree rods fitted. Absolutely dreadful colour scheme. 😮

Those ‘rods’ are there to give the pilot a visual aid to find the 90 degrees in the vertical. They are standard fit to aerobatic aircraft, the ones that have a 45 degree marker are an extra which if the pilot needs to know exactly where the 45 is he can look at them. I think a professional such as Denny can judge the 45 by eye. 😉

Anyone know why Denny Dobson doesn’t have 45 degree indicators on his wingtips as many of the aeros aircraft do?

Don’t know, never asked him. I think these were the rods that were in place when the aircraft was purchased from Brian Lecomber and they have just been kept on. I don’t think there is a technical reason.
I also presume that the 45 degree indicators are used more frequently in competition aeros to judge perfect angles.
