His loss was tragic in many ways. The world lost a person who had the ability to make what he did interesting to others. He was entertaining and his knowledge base seemed endless. Mister Irwin had this incredible ability to draw you into his world no matter what he was talking about. I will miss his antics while filming his shows but I will miss the man mostly for his qualities as a human being.

Steve Irwin was one in a million. he was one of the few that relised there is only one deadly animal on this planet, they are called Homo Sapians. has he said hundreds of times in his programs snakes will only bite if they really have to, the main use of there venom is for catching food. a crocodile or aligator will attack you if you stupid enough to swim in there domain or as a defence. most if not all animal attacks on humans are the fault of the human or accidents. most so called deadly animals would run a mile from a human if they had a chance. i think Mr Irwin tried to show us this in his antics. it was just a great shame one of these accidents took his life. its not only Australia that has lost a great bloke but the world..

Cool picture.
I believe there is an interview with Terri, Steve’s widow, this Friday by Barbara Walters…..I’d very much like to watch it and see what she has to say.

Wonder if Pete_sj has changed his opinion after all of the reasponses to his earlier post (the only one I think of which I’ve seen Mr. Irwin criticized in this forum).

And that my friend Scooter was another point of his great show.
He allowed the rest of us to get in close to these animals (and not just Crocs & Gators) and experience then in a way we otherwise never could as well as learn more about them and why they are the way they are……
Just another of the many reasons his death is so tragic and entirely too soon….
I agree and feel real sorry for all of the Children, his Family, and the People of Australia. Such a great loss………………. 🙁

Steve would indeed be quite distressed at this news….I hope it stops soon.
Stingrays however dangerous they could be are beautiful animals and watching them swim (or glide as I see it) is a thing of beauty.
That was the whole point that Steve Irwin was trying to teach us. To respect all of Gods creatures…………….dangerous or not! That said, I keep my distance………………I am not going to be fodder for any Alligator and I’ve seen plenty…………….. 😮

Looks like all that hard work the man put in has gone to waste Steve Irwin’s message was always respect for other creatures especially the dangerous and venomous ones. 😡

😮 Up to 10 stingrays have been found dead and mutilated on Australia’s eastern coast since “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin was killed by one of the animals last week, an official says.
The deaths have prompted concerns of revenge attacks on the normally docile fish.
The popular television star was killed last week when a stingray barb pierced his chest as he filmed a TV show off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
The dead stingrays have been discovered on two beaches in Queensland state, including two that were found with their tails lopped off, said state fisheries department official Wayne Sumpton.
Sick idiots!!!!

That’s very sad news indeed 🙁 I always enjoyed his shows and great enthousiasm about all kind of animals. He also did great things for wildlife protection. Let’s thank him for that.
🙁 R.I.P. Steve Irwin, you’ll be remembered!

While any death is tragic. Irwin was always a camera hog. Some call his act enthusiasm, I just saw it as egotism. A lot of time the animals he wanted to film would be just sleeping, and he would go and pick it up, forcing it to lash out at him. But hey, it made for great TV. Oh well, The Crocodile Hunter was a Hollywood character, and he died like a Hollywood character.
Just let this be a lesson to people. Wild animals like people just want to be left alone.
I have to say i think you are wrong about him, He certainly was not Hollywood and this is even more proven by the fact his family do not want him to have a State Funeral.
His shows were about education and he knew the risks from the Animals he was dealing with, I never saw him wake a Animal up Just for the sake of it, I did see him checking the animals health and well being and general conservation, I know his hands on approach has its critics but i feel it was often more educational than the normal approach.

What nonsensical rubbish, google is your best friend, try researching Steve before you come out with such trash, I never saw him make animals lash out at him, your obviously viewing something different to the majority of us, he was far from a hollywood character, you were right the first time, he was full of enthusiasm, enthusiasm for the love of his work, and he acheived so much doing it, more than probably you could ever realise in your lifetime, so do us a favour, have a wee play on google for 30 minutes, you may even surprise yourself
Oh & well said Phantom
