And saying something is where it will stop, but they are not the only culprits. And do you know for sure that Russian media is NOT covering events in Tibet? not that I am speaking up for them. I can tell you that Russia Today channel certainly is, there may be others doing it but that is the only Russian channel that I receive. As for B——g about the UK and US doing something about it..I don’t because like a lot of other countries, unless there is anything in it for them..then they won’t. Words are easy and cheap, action is a whole different matter

My peers in central Russia certainly know about all world affairs. They were talking about Tibet just this morning. They could be listening to the BBC World Service but I doubt it. Their internet is not restricted either.

So that’s your answer, is it?

That’s how you imagine we’d establish our moral authority in the world at large, is it?

By blithely accepting the mass murder of civilians in a country that poses no current military threat to the UK or to its interests?

For shame! 😡

That’s a mighty twist on what was typed!
We do need to establish our moral authority, when compared to such places. And people like that regime only understand force. The Bully needs a good wallop, asking them nicely just invites ridicule and a further beating. End of.

No military threat to UK, possibly. But it is our duty, along with the US to rid the world of pests for the common good of its own people and the world in general. The pests being the regime, NOT the people.
We won’t have to wait long. N. Korea is bound to have a pop at South. US is sworn to protect the South (Unless Cheney unpicked that in 1990). China will side with the North. Problem.

Please read again.
I am involved in the selling of arms and other military equipment.
I stated a real enemy.
I stated NOT doing the same as Iraq and Serbia. By that I mean real shock and awe and then leaving them to it. The military capability of China can and must be eradicated. If there are civvy casualties then so be it, unfortunately that is the nature of attacking military establishments. We do our best to avoid civvy casualties, it does no good in the effort to raze the military installations and wastes a bomb worth about £250,000 each.

Except that militarily Doing same for China than was done to Iraq and Serbia is pure imposibility. I presume that you are not that aware of chinese military capacity, so I can forgive it.
But even if we ignore the huge retaliation capapilities that China has, and how effectly such action would mess the entire asia up (not to mention the thuosand of innocent civilian victims!!) ,The overal capacity of PLA would mean that such bomb trucks will become suicide trucks. It would teach lessons, but unfortuanetly to the west, and I bet that it would be lesson that west isent keen on taking:rolleyes:

….My god, Im ranting pro-china here, man some certain kids should see me now…:D 😀

Let’s face it, the “west” is too badly fractured to have a unified voice in anything. Either out of political, ecomomic, or military weakiness, or maybe just turning a blind eye in the name of neutrality (or cowardace).

We’ve seen it countless times…Country X is doing something bad to an internal group.
Most of the world sits and watches with the attitude of “I’m alright Jack…” and B@#ch if the U.S./U.K. don’t do something.

IMO its too late for Tibet. China has the western countries by the economic “short and curlies” All the hand wringing and urges for Chinese restraint coming from “concerned countries” will come to nothing more is the pity. However the regime in Beijing is sensitive to looking bad in the eyes of its people and to the world. To this ruling clique image is everything so a boycott of the Olympics would hurt them, it could however then make life very miserable for the Tibetans and other protestors afterwards. But IMO its still worth a go and I bet the majority of Tibetans would favour it too….but don’t look to London or Washington for inspiration:(

I see that the French are getting twitchy over the Olympics, is this going to extend to other countries, are we going to have a last minute boycott as what happened in the USSR and USA in the 80’s. Personally, I think not, China is too great a player in the economic world, you might not be able to obtain your latest Corgi models otherwise.
How did the world see us beating hell out of the Catholics in Northern Ireland, same difference, whatever your point of view, suppress the minority by force.
Heed the words of Nostradamus, the west will be overrun by the yellow hoards from the east, well, at least their foods pretty tasty, rather them than the beardy wierdies from half way in between.
C’mon Kev35, I can see you lurking.

It’s about time the West picked on a real enemy. China needs sorting out, and quick. If the West doesn’t do it soon, the far east will go Nuclear and then there may be a few regrets.
Can’t invade, too many troops.
A few hundred Bomb Trucks for a few months will have to do the trick. We have some new weaponry that needs full battle test too. Stuff public opinion, they were wrong when we got shut of Saddo.
After the bomb trucks have softened the ground a bit, and left their military with no comms or air bases/force or Navy……we should then walk away, lessons taught to what’s left of the regime. Based on lessons learnt from mismanaging the peace.

And, Nostrodamus predictions are only linkable to real events if you have a twisted Religious mind, like the ones we are trying to eradicate in the Mid East.
Fact and science proves “Les Propheties” has no relation to real events, unless you twist it to suit.

Try not to buy stuff made in China is my only advice, though its nigh on impossible, good thing i don’t buy many goods i guess but you get the point. i’m not gonna bother watching any thing of the olympic games either, not that i’m a big sports fan – i hate sport in general but i do tend too watch the olympics normally, not this time though but its hard to get away from it when they will have results on the news of whats happneing there. All i can say really, no amount of petitions are going to do anything with China sadly…

…..This is a regime that slaughtered its own population on the streets of its capital in order to retain control and regards national unity as one of the central tenements of its security scenario…………

..and has behaved this way for centuries, not for decades.

Like the man said, good luck with that one.

That petition does not really seem to know what its asking for, however there are two themes that I think I can pick out from the poorly worded text.

1) China should use restraint.

This is a regime that slaughtered its own population on the streets of its capital in order to retain control and regards national unity as one of the central tenements of its security scenario…………so good luck with that.

2) There should be some kind of negotiation on Tibets status.

See above.
