Ok Godwin, the Nazi party was a bad example. Why? Because Nazi Germany decided to aggressively expand by attacking its neighbors. That was clearly not an internal cultural issue, was it?
Beyond that, my point remains. What gives any one nation the right to impose its set of cultural, ethical, and moral standards on any other?
By: Arabella-Cox - 28th March 2008 at 20:08
Nope. China is a different culture with different values. The West has no right to look at China or any other nation and say “adopt our values or else”.
Wow, yeah lets excuse pityfull human rights under the excuse of culture, come on you know better then that SOC, perhaps we, meaning whatever country your from could use the old culture excuse to do as we please, imagine the world then ‘oh that genocide in Africa – thats just thier culture’ or ‘oh that country invading another country – oh don’t worry its just thier culture’ or ‘oh that country uses chemical weapons on its own people – don’t worry its just thier culture’ I think you get the point, the culture excuse holds no water in this day and age, its a pityfull excuse for appalling treatment of fellow human beings, hey i guess while were at it the Nazi party was a cultural phase for the German people, we should have let them continue.

we had our test and we survived… That what I mean that if you dont have capacity to defend yourself, you loose your rigth to be free. My army is as good where it stays;) Finnish hegemony will never come we are too small for it, so there isen’t any need to join others wars.
Use of morale values of individuals in nation wide scale isent proper, things doesent work that way, never has and never will. You have to keep your focus on what really goes on, not hang yourself into what in your obinion is rigth or wrong.
History has always worked so and I bet it will keep doing it in the future. If you are small and out numbered, then black and white thinking is luxury that you simply cannot afford.
Im Not saying that I like that Tibet is crushed, emotionally thats wrong, but emotions have no place in the world politics. As a weapon dealer you should understand it

oh the west dosn’t have the moral or ethical clout to judge China eh? I politely ask from what other planet are you calling from? You honestly do not think the west is any better morally or ethiclly then China? Boy your in for a shock if you go do your homework on China, lets start with perhaps the very worst in human rights on the planet shall we, please do tell us how the west is comparable in the human rights aspect, go do your research and come back to us on that.
And the British are the biggest hypocrites of them all. Destroying cultures have always been a part of the history of the British Empire. Don’t hate China because they successfully fought off being a lemming of the British crown.
I especially like the lies about the Opiums Wars that the Chinese went to war with the British because the British recognized the evils of opium and tried to stop the poor addicted Chinese from using the evil substance. The first international drug cartels weren’t South American. They were British. At least the cartels from South America did it only for money. The British primary use of opium was to destroy people so they could be easier to conquer. Or how about the lie the British gave democracy to the people of Hong Kong. Yeah only the last few years after 150. And it wasn’t a real democracy because the British still got to choose the governor. So quit lying to the world about how “civilized” you are. Especially when the British helped start an illegal war in Iraq. The greatest criminals against human rights in the history of the world have the British on top. Let’s cry about the 200 Tibetans monks the British executed in the 1930s just for warning to the Tibetan people not to interfere with the British love for hunting animals.

Well bravery of beeing out of range;) If your nation calls you up to go and beat the crap out of china, would you join the ranks?
As for the Tibet, The fate of any nation lays in the nations own need and urge to pursuit it. If Tibetians don’t want to figth for their rigth to be free or cannot do it, then the history shall doom them to extinct. Its only morale that we can effectively place upon international politics when speaking of nation wide levells. Mengeling of others into the situation would do no good to Tibetians, but only raises them as a pawn for hegemonical clash.
Absolutely would! I’ve had my war, Falklands. I’m in a protected job right now, and too old to grunt along with a pack on.
Tibet cannot fight to be free, so you say it’s OK to have them trampled? One could say the same about Finland….she has armed forces which seem deafening by their silence whenever there is a skirmish in the world.
It is better to have the bully killed off than allow the weakling to die away under the pressure.

Jesus H Tapdancin Christ. I boast because my country hasn’t the nerve to do the job properly. I have to be a sociological chauvinist because weapon sales makes me money. So long as they’re used on regimes I don’t like, it doesn’t matter to me who fires them off. And, I certainly DO have a moral superiority over such places, that’s easy, being a Westerner. However, there will always be objections to weapons being used, no matter how low down the scale the regime being eradicated is. It’s your right to object, it’s my right to wish to launch the attack. People in China DARE NOT say such things. Even the boy from Tiananmen Square (1989) was found 3 hours later, dead.

China has the right to handle its internal affairs as it sees fit. Just like the USA did in the 1700 and 1800s, or did the native Americans all of a sudden move somewhere else?
That view depends on wether or not you regard Tibet as an integral part of The Peoples Republic of China. I certainly do not and I wouldn’t mind betting that most Tibetans don’t either. This situation is as unjust as the Zionists treatment of the Palestinians but in some ways worse because at least the Zionists claim to have a religion based right to the land, with the Chinese its pure greed and the coveting of Tibets mineral wealth at the expense of a nations peoples and their beliefs. Shame on a so called “Peoples Republic”! which nowadays consorts with some of the most odious regimes on earth, as a lifelong Socialist its enough to make yer weep!:(

Still ranting. PLA is still too big to be taken out pure boasting like that:rolleyes: Even its online “my gun is bigger than yours” value deserves some facts atleast. Otherwise Im not that bothered to flame with sosiological-chauvinist like you. Feel free to feel morale superiority over “such places”;) 😉

So, what was good in the 18th and 19th century is good in the 21st? Why worry about collateral damage then? GBU-10s for everyone then?
By: SOC - 28th March 2008 at 17:28
Does China have the right to systematically eradicate Tibetan culture? If China has that right, why doesn’t the West have its rights?

Your only choice is violent military action. The West certainly doesn’t have the moral or ethical credibility to judge or command China. Poor, poor, Tibetans. Not because they’re being occupied by China. But because their champions are the biggest hypocrites in the world.

…It all might happen but if it happens from the barrel of a gun then who is to say such a change can’t be reversed the same way?
I am sure the Serbs in Bosnia are looking very carefully at Kosovo right now…
An excellent point, Garry.
By: Arabella-Cox - 28th March 2008 at 08:38
It’s about time the West picked on a real enemy. China needs sorting out, and quick. If the West doesn’t do it soon, the far east will go Nuclear and then there may be a few regrets.
China is already a nuclear power… what makes you think they will accept western attacks on their military without retaliation?
What do you think they actually have nukes for in the first place… Firecracker envy?
After Free Tibet I guess it will be Free Taiwan, and then Free Manchuria… where will it end? Free New Mexico? Free Wales?

Please read again.
I am involved in the selling of arms and other military equipment.
I stated a real enemy.
I stated NOT doing the same as Iraq and Serbia. By that I mean real shock and awe and then leaving them to it. The military capability of China can and must be eradicated. If there are civvy casualties then so be it, unfortunately that is the nature of attacking military establishments. We do our best to avoid civvy casualties, it does no good in the effort to raze the military installations and wastes a bomb worth about £250,000 each.

Heed the words of Nostradamus, the west will be overrun by the yellow hoards from the east, well, at least their foods pretty tasty, rather them than the beardy wierdies from half way in between.
C’mon Kev35, I can see you lurking.
If you like to play with the prophecies, start with the Bible, especially Revelations. Imagine what the hard core Christian evangelical thinks about the end of the world. Imagine if your behind mechanics of your foreign policies are being shaped by such beliefs.
1. Surprise surprise, Europeans are the evil guys, because the EU is the new Roman Empire, and the head of the EU is a single person whose number is 666, the Anti Christ. The Evangelicals, especially through the book the Late Great Planet EArth, have been writing about the reunification of Europe into a single empire for some decades now (the book was written in the early seventies). The Eurodollar only cemented their claims.
2. Somehow the United States all this has precipitiously declined that it has become a non player or part of the new Revived Roman Empire under the Anti-Christ. The new Roman Empire consists of 10 nations or “heads”, presumably major European nations.
3. Two things stand in the way of the Anti-Christ for total world domination. The first is the Prince of the Magog, otherwise known as the leader of the revived Soviet Empire.
4. The second is the “Kings of the East”. Probably the PRC, but it refers to the Kings in plural, and there are four Kings. That would be an alliance of four Eastern nations with an army of “200 million”.
In the middle of it all is a revived Israel that has somehow broken the Dome of the Rock to rebuild the old Temple of Jerusalem.
The war begins with the Revived Russian Empire striking down in a Blitzkrieg across Turkey to the Middle East.
The Eastern forces crosses the Tigris and Euphrates and dives across the Arabian Peninsula.
The Antichrist mobilizes the forces of the 10 nations/Revived Roman Empire into a crusade to Israel, where all three massive armies will face a showdown called Armageddon.
