You of all people are not giving us the full facts 10% of UKIP members equals how many against 7%( I understand) of Romanians.

A spokesman for the Romanian Embassy said recently 624 Romanians were in prison in the UK

Looks like 0.6% to me, so maybe your understanding is a little adrift?

I do agree. There is something in the UKIP candidate selection policy that does need urgent overhaul. For example: Do not select inarticulate and Facebook and Twitter enthusiasts who have done ‘a bit of porridge’. Given prison population levels that excludes most of the population.

Charlie, don’t be mischievous. The permanent civil servants will ensure continuity on most things such as paying the bills. Examples of the ‘broad brush strokes’ of government will be all around them. Follow them while beginning the process of ‘tweaking’ and re-adjustment, gradually imposing your own policies. The fabled rocket science – it ain’t !

There was an interesting post by someone on f/book yesterday.UKIP has been elected-the others aren’t too unhappy at the moment because ukip will do all the nasty stuff the others want to do and they will take the blame and eventually the other main parties will be voted back into power by a grateful population after the ukip party had done all the dirty work for them.

I loved the revelation earlier in the week that a certain proportion of the Romanians in this country had been jailed for criminal activities. But at 10% the number of ukip MEPs who had been jailed at some point was much higher.

There was an article in The Independent on Thursday (and elsewhere, too) about the implosion of the BNP after their ‘fantastic’ showing five years ago. Maybe there is a lesson in that for this weeks flavour – just follow the exemplar, guys…

That does not surprise me in the least. Apart from their two policy headlines they have no coherent policies for national governance let alone local governance. Straw men all!

On BBC North West News watched a nice shiny new UKIP councillor being interviewed, his response to ” what policies he brought to the council” resulted in a lengthy silence, a couple of false starts then finally “we want to bring a level playing field to local politics” I hope those who elected him found him as funny as I did.

Frankly he gave the impression of someone who shouldn’t be allowed out unescorted.

No, but I doubt its legs will carry it beyond the end of the year. And don’t forget the “elephant in the room”. The Scottish vote in September…….

The odds might well shorten but that would be a misguided view I would say – obviously. I think yesterday’s elections will prove just as irrelevant to the general election as they always have. Anyone know the turnout figures yet? Let me guess – 25% for the MEPs and 35% for the locals. Well, that’s a resounding vote for democracy isn’t it..? So MEPs elected by a tiny percentage of the electorate to a non-democratic proto-federal cabal. And by a slightly higher percentage of their electorates local councillors elected on the basis of national prejudices rather than local community needs.

A farce? Watching the media getting all worked up about it certainly is very amusing.

Not only is Nigel beckoning, he’s also now smiling rather seductively ! And no wonder. I reckon that the odds have shortened considerably on UKIP’s General Election chances !
