I saw on the News last night, some Pillock in Westminster has given the Elderly, some advice, as to how to keep warm this Winter and who are worried about the hike in gas and leccy prices, to put layers of clothing on, live in ONE room, and put the heating on at night.
Why don’t they cut some of the taxes they impose on the Utility bills, and hammer the suppliers, and sod the shareholders.
Just what Planet do they live on?.

And energy prices rose last year as well, and the year before that, even when the wholesale price went down. Up they went. It’s a rip-off and something has to be done. The “green” tax argument is a red herring (excuse the colour metaphor). Yes they make the price go up but by the same amount for everyone. Smaller energy companies are arguing that the prices don’t have to rise this year. Who would you believe?

And we can do nothing whatsoever about it Baz, unless everyone refused to pay their gas and leccy bills when they come through the door. I had a letter the other day from one of my suppliers. I have always paid them the day I received my bill, thus getting a few quid off the next bill by being a prompt payer, they have now stopped this payment. Loyal Customer…don’t make me laugh. They can wait now, until I get a letter from them telling me they are taking me to Court for being a late payer. And you can take that to the Bank…..Oh, hang on, their another lot who rip us off, cancel that.

I am not trying to shift blame from anybody Derek…the whole energy supply situation in britain is farcical…all concerned are to blame but the whole green tax thing is a wicked scam !!
Edit to add – also the % price rises are scandalous – if you compare to cpi and wage/pension rises etc

Senior Citizens died LAST year, and that’s before this years hike. The Utility Companies ought to be made to pay their medical fees, It would certainly stop a lot of, (unfortunate) bed blocking by the elderly. If they could stay at home in the warm.I know, when I stand in line at the Post Office, just how much some of our elderly draw in their National Pension scheme, many, many only draw just about £100.00 per week, how the hell do they manage to pay all their utility bills, Council Tax etc………I could go on, but what’s the point.
I threw away my rose tinted glasses many yrs ago.

Gee Derek – that will work extremely well when some oap’s die from hypothermia : (
The ‘green’ taxes are a huge con…as some of us have said before…our poxy little country contributes very little to greenhouse gases and general pollution !!
Another one that only reads what they want to. The evidence given yesterday suggest that there is no need to raise prices this year. Why would anyone try and shift blame from the energy companies when they are the cause of this year’s rises?
By: Lincoln 7 - 30th October 2013 at 09:42
Yes Baz, I am afraid we have little power in the World today, expecting other Countries to join forces with us, we are a Tiger without teeth now.As for the Senior Citizens dying of hypothermia, they recon this year there will be 30.000 who will die of it.It’s just like pulling the plug on someone who is on a Life Support machine, it saves money, which the Government can give away to other Countries in Aid, Charity begins at home.

They do not give a sheite anyway Jim…why should they listen to our poxy little country !!
By: Lincoln 7 - 30th October 2013 at 09:03
I agree Baz, It’s about time, Cameron started to bang the Big Drum at China, Japan, India, and possibly the worst of them all the U.S.A. and asking them to cut their emissions, hardly likely though, as he hasn’t the bottle.

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth……
Interesting that they tried to blame the prices rises on government “green” taxes and suggested that they should be removed to general taxation. That rather defeats the purpose of the tax in the first which is to try and get people to reduce their power usage.

Meanwhile, back on planet Earth……
Interesting that the smaller energy companies couldn’t understand why the larger ones have put their prices up and this morning on R4, one them was accusing the “Big 6” of running a cartel. He suggested it was pointless having an enquiry into the energy market as it was very obvious what was going on.

Snafu -“That is not a statement that i can agree with as an excuse for high energy prices. There is an element of truth but little acknowledgement of distribution of profits which i suspect are not in favour of the custmoer via re-capitialisation of kit and infrastructure.
I shall do some research on revenues and distribution and see where any profits are allocated.”
My apologies for misrepresenting your comment!
