Aah, the Jet that we displayed!!! It was great to see a lot of ex-crews come round to talk to us about these awesome machines, we spoke to several whom had actually flown 889, most of them say that apart from 885, she was the best on squadron strength, I hate to think what they thought of our Jet, 894!!! Tempermental so and so, and she continues to be just that!!!! New fuel pipes anyone??? :rolleyes:

Stringbag, could I possibly have a couple of copies of the images you took of G-CVIX last weekend? Jeez, that was touch and go!!! What did you think of my amature video technique?? And no, its not porno, well I did’nt think it was!!!!!!!!!!! :p

No idea when the Sea Hawk is going to fly, all depends on when they get the parachute harness back from overhaul. It could be days, weeks or months 🙁

The older UK jets are still very good to watch and one of the best is the Bucc only saw one fly once so I would love it if XX885 makes it onto the airshows.

I love the older jets- bucc’s, hunters etc etc. Its the really new modern stuff i’m not keen on, its all to electonic for my liking 🙁

Yes my friend, that’s the one, I remember an old issue of AI (sorry Key!!) which featured a write up by Dan Griffiths on this very aircraft after having flown it for the first time, he was mightly impressed!!!

Thanks for posting the Bucc images, she was the master of impressive rotations, as can be seen in the second image.

Another poser for all you Classic Jet enthusiasts, I remember not so long ago, their was a web site promoting the private sale of Italian Air Force F-104S Starfighters once they come out of service later in the year, does anyone have a URL for it?

Excellent photos guys, especially of Delta’s Gnat, thanks Box Brownie, we were based at Kemble (2000 through to 2002), so we got to see a lot of their aircraft particularly G-FFOX/WV318.

Andrewman, I think its about time you started to promote your Jet Forum, I am more than willing to put a link to your web site through ours.

Does anyone have any recent photos of the following Classic Jets:
The Collins Foundation Phantom and the expertly polished F-100 Super Sabre that can be found on the US Airshow circuit? I believe that the F-100 was up for sale recently.

Not all of us shun jets! Modern fast jets are the best thing since sliced bread – F-15s, F-16s, F-18s, Typhoons, Mirages, Jags, Harriers etc. Superb – you can never tire of such machines.

The appeal of modern jets was summed up on the BBC D-Day flypast coverage when the commentator passed a comment along the lines that modern stuff is boring and has no charisma…
I stopped going to the major airshows (RIAT etc) as there is only so many times I can watch a F-16 display in a day. The only variety there is what block it came from…

Sorry don’t have serial nos but try counting up the ones in service with IAC and IDF. I was talking theoretical maximum based on something I heard or read round about that time

They were only just coming into service with the Burmese! The Thais. COGEA in Belgium 6. Schriener in Holland 3. SL574. TE476. TE330. TE357. SL542. G-ALGT. G-AIDN. 3CAACU. Thum Flight….plus your Irish and Israeli.

Perhaps a few more than ten?

mmmmm excluding P51s’ who should join the jets eh YAK 11?

So far this weekend I have converted one other person into believing that the P51 is the most graceful maching to have ever taken to the sky (and she has good eyesight before you ask). Now as for these parafin burners being used to clear runways, would that work on grass? Or would that get slightly scorched?

Rolling Lancs was one of Alex Henshaw’s party tricks, to the consternation of unwitting passengers. Described in Sigh for a Merlin, IIRC.

Well, the Avro Lancaster for a second. (Castle Bromwich production a/c by two test pilots there at least – and yes, several times. See Aeroplane Monthly. And enough height, a shallow dive, really good piloting, and many many aircraft can do some kind of smooth, low g roll – but for a deformed god of metalwork you can’t beat a Vulcan. Brrummmm.
