It was the best-looking civil aircraft on the planet AND was significantly faster than every other airliner (The Russian Jobbie apart)

There are other road cars that are much the same in performance terms to the Veyron, and the looks are debatable. I for one think the Astons are looking far nicer these days

I doubt (And here I am surmising because I have never driven a Veyron) that the Veyron offers any significant benefits, apart from exclusivity, over those £25 – £100,000 cars.

Surely that applies to any car over 25k?….

My view is that there are several cars in the £25,000 to £100,000 range (Many mentioned above) that offer a significantly better driving experience and visual appeal than anything that could be bought new for less than £25,000.

Not really. I wouldn’t want to OWN one, as the idea of insuring the thing makes me clench somewhat! However, just to be able to say I’ve driven it ONCE – that would be cool enough for me.

a mustard coloured mini, non standard sun roof that meant the whole thing could go back and you could drive it standing up!

not cool as in Dodge Viper, or DB-5 etc, but at the time, I had 25% negative equity, the accountant girl friend I lived with had taken the car (I got the 25% though ! :o) it leaked when it rained, it ran on chip oil for a day when it all leaked out and thats all we had to “get me home”, but I loved it and it got me back on the road when I had no money and a huge mortgage problem – many on here will remember “black Friday”…. it was at that time and this was the only car I could afford, in some ways more affection than for my first car!

Seen this near to where I work.

I’m lucky enough to have owned what I would consider the coolest cars ever, Dodge ’68 Charger and ’70 Challenger T/A.
Big difference between the cool image and the reality of ownership though!

I wouldn’t want to sit on this though! It doesn’t even have brakes and look at the flames coming out of the exhaust. But the sound of it sure gives me a thrill!

The whole point of the exercise is to find a car that Kristin Scott-Thomas would not object to be driven in.

I’m afraid apart from some of the cars on J Boyles list and maybe Moggy’s E Type, none of the cars you lot have suggested pass the KS-T cool test.

As I’m a father of three toddlers, my dreamcar would need to fulfil the daily demands of the family. If I had some extra cash to spend on a car that I really would like AND would be ideal for the family it would be something like this on the left:

However, should I have some cash left over after buying the car, I don’t think I’d be going for my own car, instead it’d be something like this on the right (I know, I’m turning myself into the laughing stock of the week (again)): 😀
