currently having the final touches carried out to its wing gun-bay fuel system
We should be so lucky!!
Shes going into the paintshop on March 10th.
Keep an eye on TFCs website for updates.
Hi the Bump, I will be surprised if its back by this Autumn. They are having
a good look at the wings or so I heard, because they have never been looked at in detail. If they don’t find anything bad my guess is it will be back around
September. Also keep your eye on provence fighter sales at the same time.JJ.
Its all been looked at in detail.
By TFC and the CAA.
Thats how it got it’s permit to fly in the UK.
As for keep an eye on provence fighter sales just what are you trying to say?
SM969 has got the same full armour.

Was ‘Brooklyn Bum’ back?……Ed Shipley had to do a precautionary landing into Brize coming back from Fairford last Monday.
No the P-39 is still there, and it was Sunday, not monday.
Did’nt ‘Double Trouble Two’ fly over as well??
Certainly some tetchy people on here a times. What I meant by a challenge was simply with two weeks to go before a very big show and with all normal airframe checks plus pilot checks to complete, putting togther an airframe, albeit complete and test flown, will almost certainly eat into the time available. I am quite aware of the skills and dedication of the TFC engineers and volunteers, what I do not appreciate are sarcastic and snide comments.
Thank you for clarification on this.
Perhaps if you had made this more clear in your original post it would have avoided any confusion.
Well if the chinese were at pearl harbour then I guess maybe. I think it will be a challenge for the TFC engineers anyway, something along the lines of when Princess Elizabeth first appeared.
Please explain this, you failed to explain in your last post.
Why will the P-40 be a challenge??
If you can’t answer it on this forum, pop into duxford on wednesday and explain it to the guy who put it together in the USA.
He’ll be there with the rest of us,maybe you can explain what you mean then?

As one of the said engineers perhaps you could enlighten us all with what you know?
Tuck, Bader, Page, Galland with Pete Thorn & self at Bex with AB910.
The return of the national health glasses!!!
Ah, I see they’ve managed to rebuild a P38 and build a new P40 in the time it’s taken to get the P39 serviceable. :dev2:
Who said it was serviceable?
ONLY 15 YEARS AGO Bah bloody youngsters:confused: 🙂 🙂
Another one you left your mark on??
Or should i say Signature??:diablo:
As someone who works on Vintage Aircraft,i find this thread amazing.
Just the other week a picture was posted on this very forum of someone sitting in a cockpit of one of our aircraft.
NONE of the full time engineering staff recognised him or knew anything about it.
My advice is this. However tempting it is, DO NOT DO IT.
If you ask the owner ,get permission and are then fully supervised and told what you can and cannot touch then fine.
If not then i suggest to take a minute to think about flight safety.
Those posters at airfields are not for show.
