Having a working knowledge on it’s sister SM969 i can confirm it will be a long way away from being airworthy.

Has anyone ever recovered the top of one of these?

The black moulded areas either side of the gun button?

The stick top we have for G-BRAF is in similar condition to the one pictured above, but was totally covered in a plastic coating which we had to remove.

Speaking to other engineers, some type of re binding and recovering has been done in the past with various degrees of success.

Can anyone help with a process of recovering one,or know who has one for sale ,trade?

It must be the late type grip with the rectangular gun button.

    Thanks in advance

Far as im aware its now at chino for final assembly and testing prior to first flight.

    Heres a rumour for legends.

    That we will have………….

No moaning punters about what TFC does, did, did’nt do, sold, bought or failed to produce for the show.

This thread caused many a chuckle at work today.

Way too early for this ‘rumours’ rubbish to start.

I heard that MH434 is in for an engine change. Will they fit a new 66 or wil it be another one?

    I have another question to:
Is there any high performance spits flying today, more power, lighter than stock??

I have heard Spit V EP120, but i dont know.

Fuel types are also a factor, wartime grades gave better performance.

Also EP120 has no Merlin 55 engine fitted at present, its in several pieces in the workshop having the supercharger looked at!!

IIRC most Baby spits are fitted with a Merlin 35 which has a very high Mod.state.

I’m sure that when (if) it’s roaring round the DX sky or sat out on the flightline at Legends no-one watching will be quite so concerned as to its exact authenticity or the tune of its licence built (Chinese copy) BMW engine. The fact of the matter is that we are possibly going to get the opportunity to see an aircraft type representation flying in the UK sky for the first time since 1946 at the latest (I can’t really count G-WULF as it was nothing but a scale replica). I’ve seen pictures of it from the owner and it certainly looks stunning and I look forward to examining it close-up in the very near future, from both an enthusiast and a professional aircraft engineer viewpoint. I’m sure it will be a different shape for everyone to point their camera’s at when they get the opportunity as well. 🙂

So let me get this right,in the TFC P40 /TF-51 thread they are all new builds with no provinance, replicas with rudder pedals etc etc

Now on this thread it’s okay because no ones concerned over ‘exact authenticity’

Ahh it’s all becoming clear now…………

No news on the P40 or TF51 but the Tigercat has left.
I will keep an eye out on Sunday as I will be there for the airshow.

    http://www.outflankeduk.com my website

Both the p 40 and TF have flown, the tigercat is mid atlantic on an ice pack taking on fuel just like the Firefox(which will be at legends).

The cr 42 and mk 18 are doing a pairs routine as we speak.

And a flock of pigs has just joined them.
