Two Mustangs one high backed in very tight formation heading towards Goodwood for the Motor Racing Revival, no doubt.
Excellent event with some nice displays, best so far was last year when the P47 performed, also a year or so before that when they ran a motor race into the late evening, then two Mustangs displayed in the gloom with their nav lights on, very wierd.
NOT a high backed one.

The Mk22 PK624 is still in store. On site at Duxford, awaiting restoration.
The Mk18 SM969 is being paint stripped to inspect the skin work underneath.
The silver scheme on it was very thick and had a clear gloss coat over it as well which is proving very stubborn to remove.
I requested the scheme stripped off as the paint was so thick in some areas you could’nt even see the panel lines, screw heads or even inspection panels!
Thankfully several of the volunteer workforce are making excellent progress with the paint removal.
The aircraft is undergoing a 200hr inspection and recertification program.
Although it only flew some 10 hours since rebuild in the 1980s being in storage for so long requires some in depth inspection.
And before anyone asks the new paint scheme is still in the planning stage so nothing is set in stone yet.
It will turn a few heads though.
Cheers

Interesting to see a sudden change of ownership on one of the spitfires since the first link to this list. 😉
It would need a BIG PAIR OF HANDS to dismantle it eh C6?
IWM site says that BBMF will be supplying three Spitfires, the other two, this one included presumably have other commitments.
Mark ,your losing your grip,
You mean PS915 ,the post mentioned the french XIX.
Bet you can’t see the wood for the trees with Spitfires!!
Ah yes Spitfires
MV293 Away at a Swiss Airshow
EP120 Away at Goodwood
MH434 Away at Goodwood
I think Robs MK 8 is at goodwood to.
RK858 and PK624 will be there, you just can’t see them.
Best i can offer is SM969 ,but we have reduced it to kit form.
So i doubt it will make the flight line.
TE184 might make it outside if someone checks its tyre pressures!
BWB get real what the hell do you want all that trash hauling American junk for would sound like a bunch of screwed up out of sink washing machines full of broken spanners, now there satis,
And the donkey you rode in on
Lots of Gannets and varsitys in a low level tailchase.
Oops someone elses fantasy there eh C6??
I reckon 48 P-47s taking off 8 at a time like the 78th did from Duxford, then beating the place up after a group pass.
Good thread Fritz.
Good pair of hand’s? Any relation to a ‘digitaly’ enhanced engineer from the lincolnshire area?
That would be a LARGE pair of hands!!
i spoke to some guys from rolls Royce a few months back when they came to have a look around TFCs Mk 14.
Most of the major sub assemblies are ‘nearly there’
No fixed date of completion though
Nice photos Gary. Here’s another view of the slightly “scary” Corsair pilot. 😎
Phil
Eric Gujion never fails to raise a smile.
On the way back home sunday he suffered total Hydraulic failure in the F4U-4 and had to blow the gear down before landing.
All safe and sound and testament to a good pair of hands.
Alan Wade.
Hats off to him, it was hard work for him at the back fighting against all the prop wash.
Is there anyone still on the volunteer crew from ’91 & earlier? I don’t reconise a single face there.
Two people in the picture were there in 1991
im one of them!!
Are these the only pictures that came out??
Or Did the lens get distorted by those large sausages you call fingers??
