Many thanks for your responses to that guys it has cleared up somewhat of a mystery. The other was Trent Aero who subsequently rebuilt the aircarft are they still in existance?
No
BWB, could you confirm the news that one of the engineers at Duxford had a dump this morning? If you could supply details of the weight, colour and texture that would be wonderful. I did try to google for these facts but didn’t find anything relevant.
Many thanks
Everyone Did.
A lot.
Nasty.
as this has been at dx for a couple of years now (it is still there?), does anyone know if one of the duxford based operators now own it, or is someone who is uk based opperating it on behalf of the russian owners?
thanks 😀

How modest of him.
Tell them you’re about to donate a sum of money to airspace.
You will be falling over emails from them.

Happy days……
TFCs FR.XIVe MV293 has the rear top tank still fitted.
Interesting to remove and fit as well!!
Daz is correct.
The codes are for 83 OTU Peplow in mid 1944.
The ADLS carried the codes DR.
It is on page 36 of the Hurricane in action book.
Squadron signal No.72.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Very cutting Mr S.
But…………
I have no idea what you are on about. 😉
Try and get a copy of The Debden Eagles,4th fighter group in world war 2 by Garry Fry.1970.
This was a softback book published sometime before the hardback book he did with Jeff Ethel.
isbn 0-9600376-1-6.
It has many rare photos from early days on Hurricanes, through to end of war p-51s.
As the spitfire interests you Daz it contains lots of picture of early aircraft with the odd sized roundels and a picture of a Mk Vb still operated at debden long after the base had converted onto the P-47.
I highly recommended it,try and get yourself a copy.
Why rebuilt? There are two Spits for sale at Duxford!!
Really? i make it at least four.
Who maintains the Grace Spitfire anyway? Is it the figter collection or Arco? Or does she have a team of people to do the work, or does she do it herself?
Who are figter collection?
The wings were restored in America and in storage at Duxford. The fuselage is being rebuilt in Italy and is due to arrive in duxford soon, where the building of the fuel pumps, fuel tanks, etc plus final assembly and finishing will take place at Duxford, which will take more than a year.
What a helpful informative post.I have learnt that the CR.42 will now have four wings.
The finished ones built in italy and in store at TFC and a new second set that have been restored in America.
This will look very interesting.
Just out of interest who rebuilt the upper two wings in the USA?
Or was it the lower two?
Or the top one and second one up?
