Why did they paint a bullseye on the side of it?
One of the great unwashed looking at the national insignia on a spitfire.
The other classic is a guy making detailed notes on the size of a wheel chock, photos, tape measure ,the works.
Still makes me shake my head now…..
One of the games highlights could be you could open fire on anything in a high vis vest.
And when you taxi in and park, if you are not at a 45 degree angle for the photographers you lose points
Or would that be to realistic.
Fury went out monday at about 12.30
Treated us to a very sedate flyby
Then headed for kemble
The very least they could do would be to park them at a 45 degree
This idea was put forward a few years back at Duxford.
The idea lasted about as long as the guy who came up with it.
Have you any idea how difficult it is to place 30 or 40 aircraft on the line in different slots leaving gaps for visiting display aircraft?
Add to this an aircraft arriving early, movements to and from the hangers
with aircraft that have gone Tech,Aircraft taxing past the marsheller and doing there own thing etc etc
I could go on,taking the time to get them all at 45 degrees is not only inpractical but a total nightmare for the guys moving the aircraft onto the flight line
I totally agree that the aircraft would be positioned better to photograph placed like this but i can assure you this is not something that is going to happen
Read Mk 12s post above
It is RW386
Not TE184
Wizard can be linked with Warbirds of Great Britain and David Arnold
As far as i am aware RW386 is still in a box at North Weald

[QUOTE=Chris Broad]No, but he’s done most, if not all of the DX resident Spitfires and more
Not as many as you think
it is only water wash paint
Bad weather kept him here,we gave him a cup of coffee then he went back up north.
Maurice and rob made it though, nice weather in Berlin
Missed out on that one eh Chris?? 🙂
What tail turret???
It never had one.
The perspex dome was removed many years ago
TFCs P-47 is due to display at Sandown then transit to DX
Could of course mean Howard and Clive:D
Must have burnt the midnight oil to come up with this one

Err….. What about the Rudder and Elevators??
