I do remember reading an article when the Su-30MK first came to an airshow about how Amazing it was to see a aircraft of that weight carry a couple or tons of missiles and still perform manouvres as if a dancer performing.

not exact word, it might even have been an AFM article back in 1997 or something cant remember.

i think the 10billion is probably so that Britain sends more RAF guys over to the house of saud to fly aircraft for them or sort out cartography or some BS.

the Sauds dont really have a very good reputation when it comes to learning.

What is so special about this aircraft? I am just wondering why its first flight is of importance.

I know it has new avionics and electronic warfare systems but structurally or aerodynamically is it different to the F/A-18E/f?

I wonder if the Naval air arm would rely on the IAF’s tankers to help them in the power projection roll. but then that doesnt make sence to me.

Considering the fact that India has limited resources and can only acquire so much at any one time, it would make sence to field the Vikramaditya and ADS with the BEST air defence it can afford, and i wonder if the N-LCA can fit into this roll.

Are the ADS and Vikramaditya going to be used to fire salvos of Cruise missiles for the power projection roll? would this where the Brahmos 2 comes into its own? Or is the Navy looking to use them for just the defence of the Battle group?

Is there no way to question the Ministry and ask them to clarify what is going on? Cant people who write those Force reports or some of the forum members from BR just ask the correct offices as to weather there is a difference between the MCA and the Fifth gen aircraft mooted to be developed with Russia.

One thing i have just realised is that the PAKFA is supposed to be Twin Engined same as the MCA, maybe the Indian side wants to develope its own heavy weight Twin engined Aircraft, the MCA, and work on a light fifth gen with russia to replace the LCA in the future.

BAe are always late with everything! 🙂 jk

I think we need the JSF, because without it airshows would get really boring, theres only soooo many times you can go watch a F-16 trying to sound big and heavy while it does a roll or see a tornado fly along the runway in a straight line! ooohhh!

    thank god for the Ruskies!

On the serious side, theres too many companies that would suffer if the JSF was not put through, Not only American companies, it has to be realised that many MNCs are part of the JSF and although it might effect lockmart (hmm wallmart for the airforce) the most the tier 1 supplies, the rolls royces the GKNs etc would all suffer.

It would be better to cancel the EF and go for the JSF! Think off it, the EF has BAe building it on the UK side and thats it from what i know, there are small companies that specialise in radomes etc supplying but most of the money from the EF is going to BAe, with the JSF however a lot more British tier one suppliers benifit.

For me i think Britain should get rid of its Aircraft carreers too they are of no use really, since we will always be involved in a war with our “special Friends” on the other side of the pond. Plus with modern missiles a AC’s are just to vulnerable against a decent foe and its better to save the money and buy more UCAVs or maybe even supply the British Army more helos and armour.

Great site, the CAD drawings are very interesting and highlight a lot of potential in the craft for the future, i could be made soo much lighter in the future if needs be.

would need more details to be completely sure though.

All of those electronic boxes can be made from reinforced plastis reducing weight even more. NASA has several studies replacing avionic and comunication boxes in satellites with those made of plastic saving on weight.

it would have to be an aerospace plane similar to a mother ship that would rain down JASMs on enemy positions and a fire at enemy aircraft from on high.

Well it feels as if for a company as old as hall is they could have come up with something bigger even a similar size to the M346 before they paraded it. showing of that you can build a small jet is a bit well its just not needed.

so you built an IJT what of it? if you see what i mean.

Dont get me wrong the IJT is needed and we also do need the AJT if hal ever make one. but taking it around at airshows is a bit well not needed.

cheers piyush has some nice pics! i need that lense! lol.

    so are those guys journos?

I did want to look at the Dhruv cockpit the IJT i dont find interesting at all. Hal should seriously make something bigger before showing it. IJT is a bit of a joke.

Can I let this go pass? 🙂

A weapon is far more deadly concealed. If you cannot understand this concept then we should spend time discussing about the pretty fighters that people have total access to at airshows because we’re comparing looks not the military application of these systems.

A weapon is not like a trophy wife that you show off to others though many third world nations do exactly that with fighters.

I would have thought a weapon was exactly that, a trophy wife.

deterent is better then actual combat.

And seriously when have the IAF shown of the 30Mkis? i know the 30MK – 1 have been in aircombat with other airforces but is that showing of?

or are you getting confused between the fans of the IAF and Su-30Mkis who tout it and the silent IAF which hasnt taken it to any airshows in europe or elsewhere?

I thougth the F-17 was going through some “upgrades” that looked like major aerodynamic modifications.wasnt it prototype 4 or something ? This was reported in this forum 3/4 months ago.

They havent finalised the aerodynamic configuration of the F-17 yet.

    Raids, Matt , Cool pics.
Raids are there higher resolutions of these pics somewhere ? The 29’s flying over the mountain is superb.

Matt , pics taken on your Cannon 30 D ?
Please upload the rest of your Farnborough pics somewhere. Specially the Indian ones 😀
The IJT pic is my Wallpaper for now.

there you go up loaded some more.

I took a lot of the dhruv but unfortunately the middle part of the flying sequence was out of the range of my lense. so i missed the best moment.

    FY eyes only

Sorry guys for the late post, but thought u may like this shot i took of the Dhruv at farnborough on thursday, went on a work trip as we make a lot of the parts for aircraft around.

i didnt spot any HAL stands but we didnt have much time. I did get literature for mates on the DHRUV and IJT, it seems the guys gaurding the planes were not so eager to hand the literature out as a guy standing next to me was refused the same.

nothing interesting in the literature though.
