    Ja, I dont know, would it not depend on its performance? I would think that the wing they added to the B-Hawk would allow it to got up at higher altitude, added to this the extra Speed it could gain. Maybe a possibility as a SAR ?? or less mundane target spotting or Ground engagement?

    All this because of a news report from report that also mentions Mig-31 in the IAF, if the IAF had the new Mig-31’s no number of gripens would help the combanation of Phalcon, Su-30mki’s M2K’s and jaguars would help.

    I borrowed Art’s idea and modified it slightly!

    The idea of this thread is to post pics of the machines that ran for competitions but never got selected, now I will stress that this is for machines that are not in service with any military or paramilitary anywhere.

    So pics of the IL-102, T-46, YF-23 and YF-32 are all welcome as are others like it.

    So here’s a pic of the Battlehawk that lost in the Australian Air 87 competition.

    That battle hawk still might come into fruition, saw an edition of Flight int this week had a Black hawk with a modified tail.

    but it wouldnt be that many mods.. i guess then need to keep things as nominal relative to the original design optimisations as possible i suppose it does have great performance.

    A word of advice.
    The way Iraq war is eating up resources and the oil prices r soaring, u might as well keep them. May come in handy sometime in future.

    PS. Without all the help from same Pakistan, u would probably still b dealing with the old evil empire…and the notion of hyperpower would probably still b unborn.

    The Tomcat is still an outstanding design. If it were to be redesigned as a fixed wing FBW jet, it would vastly out perform the stupor hornet, and be on par with the extreme AoA manuervability of the mig-29. Even as a swing wing it already is equal to any 4th gen fighter despite the extra structual weight it has as a swing wing.

    That would just make it the F-15 surely?

    if it was designed with newer materials and engines then it would kick ass.. TVC, Unstable from the outset. Composite construction.

    LCA fighter title is probably an error. The plane has a lot of ground ordnance. So the title is probably LCA bomber. The fighter would have exotic Russian BVR and WVR missiles. Can anyone help me with ID those anti ship misseles? Thanks.

    Thats is a lot of thinking their PLA. but the problem is that its a Multirole Fighter.

    awee the jolly rogers arent the same without those thick x-section swing wings and the 2D intakes of a F-14 🙁
