F-18 G load is limited by software. I believe the F-35C is also limited by software to roughly 7.5 G’s, and 7 G for the F-35B. For the F-18 and the -C, the limits are meant to extend airframe life. Not sure why the -B is only 7G.

It is limited by software because the structure can not cope with higher loadings without having a negative effect on the total life of the airframe, you take that software limit off on the F18 and you will see a increase in maintenance or decrease in total life and probably all sorts of fatigue issues.

it checks the composite panel for flaws. if there are any flaws, any portions where the bond between the layers of composite fabric hasn’t fully cured, which might lead to disbonding, such a water jet will find it.

It can give you a rough idea about the density of the material your scanning and if you have done a lot of work previously it might therefor be able to tell you if your panel has been fully cured or not, how ever with a squirter system there are many issues that arise and a lot of noise is generated.

If anything the machine is probably just used to check for hairnets, rulers, backers toenails, bits of gloves used during lay up etc and off course to see if there are a high degrees of anomalies like some form of porosity.
