    One is to passively receive signals that the aircraft is emitting anyway. Examples include RWR, IRST, optical, magnetic anomaly detection, or acoustic sensors.

    IRST Far as i know IR sensors do not give any signals at all…. RWR if going by stealth doctrine should also be passive or LO, Optical limitations unless done using algorythm, Acoustic sensor would pick up too much clutter from the surrounding and the pz’s currently around cannot provide the sensivity. MAD thats something ive seen in some movies but i am not sure how many countries can afford to put those sats into space.

    The other is to emit a signal that you bounce off the target. Examples include radar or laser ranging/LIDAR.

    Lidar/LADAR still under development closest workin ive seen (mind u i dont work in defence so i cant coment on whats not shown) is a replacement for the F/A-22 radar, and also addition to maybe the B-2 or other US stealth planes.

    There are various possible methods of detecting stealth aircraft. UWB radars show some promise in this area, and the USSR invested a lot on this technology. An anti-stealth UWB pulsed phased antenna array was under development, ultimately cancelled on the collapse of the USSR.

    Was an article sometime back, i even posted it on one of the other threads in the forum, basically US is worried because a lot of the older radar sets can detect Stealth, only problem is filtering out the garbage and presenting a clear picture.

    Speaks volumes about what? that the Russians follow the same strategy as every other weapon exporting nation on the planet?

    The USA would do the same, after the missile fiasco. (i.e. giving missile tech to China so that China could build and aim missiles against the USA).

    Why you so down on the Russians?

    Weather satellites could be used to detect pressure variance in the atmosphere and since the Horse shoe vortex in principle never really dies theoriticly (since you cannot creat or destrow energy to and from nothing it must go some where etc etc, the Horse shoe vortext generated by an aircraft last a very long distance.)

    you should be able to trace a flight path of the Stealth aircraft.

    They would have to reduce the “stealthiness” of the aicraft by such an amount as to increase its detection range, and since “stealth” is one of the products selling point I doubt they would do it.

    p.s. Stealth is also how you fly the aircraft, its not just about the aircraft but also how you use it.

    Not the whole world, but only the part that counts.

    Its also a matter how many times you can kill a country. and i think the USA would be able to nuke most of the world and still have some left over for the marsians.

    I love the way the Russians are forgotten. iirc, Russia has some issues with the chinese on some of its border.

    If you look at the test firing Video, you can see that the some of the systems have a Two part barrel, where in the first part houses the metal storm amo, and fires it, and the second part with the exit is seperate.

    As for acuracy, Their is a minimum barrel length iirc you need to stabilise and guide the projectile to its course after that any extra length of barrel is superfluous.

    India will test its longer-range Agni ballistic missile in the next few months, newspapers reported on Thursday.

    “Agni-111 will certainly be launched in the next few months,” V.K. Atre, chief of India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) told reporters on Wednesday in New Delhi.

    The Times of India daily said the flight-testing could be held within four months, but there was no immediate official confirmation of the report.

    DRDO sources say the latest variant of the nuclear-capable Agni (Fire) missile will have a maximum range of up to 4,000 kilometres (2480 miles), making it capable of striking strategic targets deep inside China.

    Agni-111’s test was originally scheduled for 2003 but it was deferred because of latest moves by arch-rivals India and Pakistan to bury decades of mutual hostility, analysts say.

    India has already begun the production of its 700-kilometre (434-mile) Agni-1 and the 2,500-kilometre (1,550-mile) range Agni-11 after flight-testing both the ballistic missiles several times since 1993.

    India, which conducted nuclear weapons tests in 1998, has developed a series of nuclear and conventional missile systems as part of the DRDO’s Integrated Missile Development Programme which was launched in 1983.

    Yup they should!

    But also to note is that the SCARMJET does not pose as many manufacturing problems as a Turbofan/Jet. 🙂

    How are the aircraft? I saw the back it didnt seem to have as many varients as i thought it would have.. Not from the makers of IL-2 anyways.

    Black cat, it would be wise not to underestimate the tomohawk, it has a lot of capabilities that Brahmos hasnt. If you compare it other russian or US ALCM’s then maybe it is not effective.

    but for India a Tomohawk is a good to own and would be very usefull..

    The rudder provides a failsafe i guess that a lot of aircraft designers do not want to loose. I gues they are looking at things like Spin recovery and Gust loads etc.

    the B-2 flys great without one.

    I think Victor you might be right espeically if they want to put the aircraft into flight by 2006.
