I thought the DHRUV was being modified with Indian radars for the ASW role. wouldnt that be a better choice? I would certainly show great confidence.

    What about the

KA-27/28 AND KA-29 HELIX NAVAL HELICOPTERS, RUSSIA

    We have some already soo..

comparitively speaking how big is Austria?

I would have thought the Gripen to be the best choice, for smaller (relative to France or german in terms of Land mass or Sq miles) countries

Well if the Indians manage to sign off the Technology transfer deal with the USA. Maybe we will see the JSF in Indian Service, but I DOUBT IT!.

As for the modifications, to the Mig-29K i guess it might be on the lines of the Su-30MKI’s with some Avionics from thales, missiles rack modified for the M530(?) and other western missile systems. Indian mission Computer. Amorphous datalink capable of taking both the Western Antiship missiles (sea eagle, Magic II) in Indian inventory and also Russian missiles and i guess the PJ-10.

comfusing article..if Russia’s fifth gen is still on the drawing boards then what are the Su-35 pilots flying? or what about the Su-30MKI since that is a 4+ gen aircraft by western standards, doesnt it make it a 5 gen aircraft for the Russians?

as for the gap narrowing down. that does not make sence either. the J-10 is what i guess they are refering to as the 5th gen fighter, then no its not narrowing, the Russians will start now, and they will finish about the same time as the chinese 5th gen.

Confusing article to say the least.

“Russia and China’s new generation fighter development may conclude around the same period of time, and the fact itself proves that the generation gap between the two countries in this particular area is narrowing down”
