    4. That these people have western style democratic values. They want democracy but in a total different format to the West (and one that is incompatible with Western values).

Freedom is the same everywhere, and those in power, those who enjoy the fruits of freedom must make an effort in bringing it to people who don’t have it. Yes it may cause wars and bloodshed in the short term but in the end it will all be worth it. Iraq is now far better than it was under Saddam for example, it went through a period of lawlessness but now it is a good democracy.

Compare that to Egypt where there was no intervention, Mubarak replaced by what looks like a more Islamised version, no improvement.

I am starting to love Le French. America under Obama are a bunch of cowards so the free world needs a resurgent France/U.K to teach the terrorists a lesson. And it also serves as a good show case for French weapons.

Go Rafale, Go France. Go Freedom.

A bit off topic but do you think the Brahmos can be a carrier killer, assuming it hits the carrier, its much larger than the Chinese missile for example.

I think corrosion was being sarcastic at the new Uber Sino-Pakistani carrier killer.

    Oh yes 🙂

Not just that we should have enough agents in enemy countries to respond in kind to any any terrorist attacks.

I don’t you think include Su 34 among those. But the thing is Russia being the maker of the Flankers can afford to depend on flankers alone. India cannot.

What about China though I guess at one point they could have more Flankers than Russia and India.

So the Bison it seems is one of the best dogfighters around. No wonder the IAF did not want to replace them with the less agile Tejas MK1s. Which begs the question what will replace the Bisons in IAF service if the MK2 is delayed. Surely the Mk2 won’t be ready by 2017 for induction when the Bisons are supposed to be retired.

If the contract is signed in 2013 Rafale should be ready by 2016, but in limited numbers and using Rafale/MKI for the roles done by the Bison is going to be an expensive affair.

I think there is still room for a small Swedish fighter,

Sorry, I just came to the forum and didn’t see the earlier postings. Personally, I am not surprised it will be name Enterprise. Yet, it’s a little on the early side for such an announcement….

    Welcome back :diablo:

May be they can sell it to India or Japan to keep the Chinese at bay 😎

But much cheaper to upgrade as shown in the case of IAF.

The US didn’t offer their best products and hence they lost.

And its much safer to have your mainstay fleet from a quasi totalitarian regime like Russia than its from the U.S, where changing administration and congress can be a real pain the ass.

I do envisage F 35 in Indian service in the future, India’s High – Low mix could be T 50 and F 35 along with some AMCA thrown in.

I think in the next 20 years India will have to be part of one bloc or the other. And I keep an open mind to which, we have shown little enthusiasm in being part of a U.S coalition against an emerging China. But Chinese still continue to support Pakistan and show passive aggression towards India, now their policy may change, but pushed hard from both sides India may inadvertently end up in the U.S camp.

A shift in Chinese policy may however mean great hegemony between the two nations and thwart U.S attempts in the region, I do think India holds they key to that tussle (not economically but Geo-politcally).

Yawns at China ordering Mi 26. The Chinook carries less but is a far more capable machine in every other aspect. I can see follow on orders and India becoming one of the largest operators of Chinook outside US.

In 20 years or so our deterrent would be strong enough that China won’t even seriously think of starting a war.
