A few more from today

Thanks for posting the pics LAHarve. I was busy sunning myself at Old Warden at the time. I haven’t seen Princess Elizabeth fly post resotration, which is strange because I practically live at the IWM Duxford! I can’t wait to see her this weekend.
Did you manage to find out who was flying her?
Alternatively, i usually aim for after mid day. Everyone’s already arrived and the roads are clear. The only down side is that doesn’t give you much time to enjoy the flight line walk and the trade stands before the show though.
Can’t people just be happy to see what’s there? Even if you’ve been told that a particular plane will be there, there’s no guarantee of it flying. Just be grateful that you have the best warbird show in Europe.
You’re right Robbo. However I really enjoy the pre-show forum speculation, it’s part of the whole experience. There will be so much there that I for one won’t be disappointed by any unfortunate last minute drop-outs.
That’s very exciting. Thanks for the tip.
From what i’ve heard, there are many surprises planned for Legends 05, which is supposed to be the biggest yet by far!
The Red Lion is great, but i’ve been favouring “The John Barleycorn” of late. An exceptional pub, great food, always some interesting aviation related ales on tap etc. etc. It also has a good view of the Duxford Circuit from the beer garden!
Just arrived home after a weekend away (16:15 22/05/05) to see the Curtis Hawk 75 flying around the airspace over my village, norht of Duxford. She’s still up there as I type this! What a wonderful sound!!!
I think this calls for a celebration pint
I agree that next to the Land Warfare Museum is cool, I got to watch the show from the “Gold Pass” enclosure – Fantastic! I’d recommend that next time.
Not in the least bit dodgy Jonathan. Cracking pics, i especially like the Harrier one and the underside of the P40. The Sunday show had much fewer cancellations, there were plenty of storms about, but most of them seemed to by-pass Duxford conveniently!
I saw Princess Elizabeth at 16:50 today…. still in TFC’s hangar… Cowling off. So best guess it wasn’t her. The only activity at DX that I saw was John Romain giving some lucky chap circuits and bumps practice in the new twin seat spitfire, and TFC doing engine run checks with the Wildcat. I may have missed some earlier activity?
U know if it’s an original german one or a Buchon?
The T-33 didnt land there did he??
Hi Alex, The Jungmann question is an interesting one. The bloke doing the commentry told a story of two downed airmen stealing this very aircraft from an airfield in Germany and escaping in it. Sounds like something from “The Great Escape”, but no doubt true of the type of heroics that took place at that time. The T33 flew out of Duxford, but was flown by a shuttleworth pilot, Keith Dennison, and what a superb display!
I thoroughly enjoyed the show, roll on the 14th for the next one!
Cracking pics by the way!!!!!!!
If “Damien” is going to Abingdon, and “Manonthefence” is going to Shuttleworth, then I don’t need to go to either…… just wait for the photos to be posted!!!!!!!
Only joking, i’ll make the 20 minute journey to be at Old Warden, it’ll be the first opportunity to use my new SVAS membership!
Interesting, “Manonthefence”, that you are coming to Old Warden…. given that (according to your location) Abington is considerably closer to your home. That’s commitment for you! Remind me to buy you a pint some time! 😉
I believe that they were shooting for the new Eastman catalogue. Will be doing the same tomorrow with the P47….. so I’m told… 4th hand! 😀
Indeed they were at it again today. I took some snaps, and here are some of my favourites. http://www.eastmanleather.com
……Princess Elizebeth is being used in some sort of photo shoot on the ground.

Hmmm, nice pictures Darren!!
3. Who was flying MH434?
Yes, Cracking pics Darren, it was a great day at DX today.
MH434 flew three times whilst i was there, the first time was Lee Proudfoot, the last time was Nigel Lamb and the middle one, a pilot who i didn’t recognise. Ray was flying the P51.
