During my Gill Airways days, they had about 6 or so SH6’s and even a couple of SH3’s! The SH6 was great fun to fly on. I flew on it often NCL/ABZ when going back home for a weekend or so. But now that I’ve graduated on to the airline with ‘bigees’, I kinda miss flying in the props. The SAAB 340 (SF3) is a great wee plane to fly in too. Very comfortable, if not a little noisy.
Aaaah, the memories!
I doubt you will ever see EasyJet in Lisbon,Vienna or Dublin because they are very dear airports to operate into.I saw a programme once and somebody from easyJet said Faro is much more cheaper.
They were only on my wishlist. I didn’t really expect EZY to announce them. I’d much prefer if Monarch were to do LIS, PRG and MJV rather than easyJet.
Well, bugger me! 🙂
The 146 is great! I love it anyway. Don’t want BE to get rid of the that soon!
I love the 146 too but Flybe shouldn’t have a 3-3 config on those aircraft. Bloody ouch! Took me about an hour to get my legs to talk to me after a short flight LGW/JER. And then can you imagine the job I had talking them into going back on the same aircraft on the return sector on the same day?? Man, were they miffed!! 😡
No FR or XLA
Love it!! 😀
Finally, I might rename the airport Dublin/Manchester (North Wales) Airport and get Ryanair to move its Dublin services there, advertising that “its only a 90 minute fast ferry ride from the Irish capital”!
Likewise!! 😀
CO-ck up?
I see from the timetables that CO have two flights departing BHX to EWR within 2 hours of each other both using B752’s – are they doing this because of lack of bigger aircraft, does anyone know? Surely it would make more sense to operate a single flight using a B777 instead of 2 B752’s?
Would the JT underneath the cockpit window be the last two letters of the reg?
The slip road from the M8 to Glasgow Airport is the A737… 😮
If only that was a ‘B’ road Bhoy! 😀
I’ve just double checked that – and we don’t serve it regularly – only on ad-hoc charters these days. However, I’d like to see it come true – LTN/MJV!! Another route that will be snapped up one day soon by someone.
on the A370
Another new Airbus!!! (sorry, poor joke!!) 😮 🙂
Torrevieja is the very place I was referring to LBArules – I didn’t think many people would have heard of it on here! 😮
This will be the first MJV service by EZY. Although they are our competition at LTN and LGW, I wish them luck.
Interesting to see they are now going to Murcia, even though Alicante is under an hour away to the north.
I think that Murcia is a very wise choice. ALC is a very busy airport and a lot of British ex-pats live between ALC and MJV and may well prefer the EZYness (sorry! 😉 ) of MJV.
Yeah, you’re probably right LBArules – EZY must have their reasons and I know that LGW must have the biggest catchment area and that would be a huge plus. I’m not so sure about how far Gatwick is from central London but Luton certainly has (especially North) London in it’s catchment area. The average train journey from London Kings Cross to Luton Parkway is about 40 mins.
Obviously, I have flown from LTN a good few times and I have only flown from LGW a handful of times, but I do prefer the simplicity of LTN over the miles of walking to the gate that LGW offers as a passenger. As a spotter it’s LGW everytime though!
The one thing I do believe is that as LTN and LGW are about 65 miles apart, EZY can quite easily serve more of the same destinations from both without being in competition with each other. But why doesn’t any airline serve PRG from LTN. Even SOU has a PRG service!! COME ON MONARCH!!
That’s a cracking photo. Lucky boy!
If they get a high speed rail link, then that could be the saving grace. But, what are EUJet going to do until then for getting passengers to want to spend 2 hours on a train from London? They may not be around to see this new rail link.
