Top Gear is ‘Last of the summer wine’ for those with a vague interest in cars. Clarkson, Hammond and May are just three men with nothing to do, too much time to do it in and a seemingly limitless amount of other people’s money to waste in trying to fill their time.

Its such a shame he’s been reveiled, its lost that edge now…Just not the same now we know who he is, it was always exciting when Jezza used to say ‘Some say that he’s etc etc’ because it was funny how he was introduced, now its just that guy Ben Collins-which by the way is the most boring name for a race driver-and a Formula 3 one at that that didn’t make it into Formula 1 whom of which…is The Stig…*Yawn*

It was good wanting to talk about who he was, is it Damon Hill, Tiff Needell, Micheal Schumacher etc but at the same time I don’t want to find out because it’ll ruin it.

They should get a new Stig, kill this one off again and get one with a British racing green racing suit and helmet. That’d look quite cool too and it’ll keep the environmentalists happy too because…He’d be green! 😀

Aston Martin DB9 and DBS :diablo:

But how would you want it though? Colour etc? For me, the perfect Aston Martin DBS as in colour wise is one Jeremy Clarkson drove on TopGear, that stunning looking green with the black/grey/titanium coloured looking wheels….uffff I had a trouser accident when I seen that. You’d miss your stop if you thought of that when you were due to get off. :diablo:

I’ve also just thought of the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage…

…Is it just me or hasn’t that car gotten much attention it should have been getting? That’d be second choice after the DBS…

@richw_82, you lucky lucky thing you. I’d weep if I’d seen it for real, but looking at it just by pictures & seeing it on TV etc, its no wonder Mike Hawthorn called his ‘The Merceater’.

I’ve been saying that all along. Why the hell should we pay a fortune for something the UK will never really own.

Its like Ferrari with their new super car, you can buy it for yourself, but they say when and how you can use it. Rediculous!

Go for Rafale, until we can afford them, say, in a few years time when the cash flow is going a bit more smoothly, before then, don’t waste money on buying another airplane for a stop gap, just update a few Harrier GR9’s, say around 15-25 or so with the Blue Vixen radar-there was nothing wrong with that at all-fit it with ASRAAM and AMRAAM & a gun etc etc and theres your stop gap. It’d be one hell of a platform and don’t forget, before the Typhoon came along the good old Sea Harrier FA2 was the best defence fighter in Europe at the time.

I’m sure theres still a good few of Blue Vixen radars knocking around in the shed.

Condolences to the pilot’s family. Sadly this incident will probably be used by some media source to criticise the Typhoon’s export potential somewhere.

It depends on what caused the accident, something wrong with the airplane or pilot error, no matter what caused it it shouldn’t be used against export potential just because the pilot was sadly killed, it wouldn’t show much respect to him or the family & friends.

But sadly these days, if a company can exploit whats happened to make money then they’ll do it.

According to ‘know it all’ there, we’re getting TWO carriers…

…during the Falklands, “Sea Harrier fighters had to be in the right place by luck in order to repel Argentine airstrikes”. (So 20+-0 air/air kills in the Shars favour was “luck”, is what he’s more or less saying…Nice one)

…Even F-18s would tend to show the Eurofighterand in some circumstances the Tornado in a bad light as strike planes.Okaaaaaay…

And my favourite bit…

I done quick read in AirForces Monthly the other day, I didn’t read too much into it but I came across a small(ish) article in the UK news section that said, something like: ‘Rafale v Typhoon DACT in UK’. (Something like that anyway)…
