Gracias. It is AESA. All AESAs work the same way, no matter where in the world. There are small differences but are mostly negligible. Just as Toyota and Honda engines are not exactly the same, but work in the same way and have very similar performance.
So what you’re saying is, both AESAs of the F-16 and J-10B are basically the same, the J-10B’s isn’t superior?

It’s known, it’s not a matter of ‘no one knows’, it’s just that you don’t know what it’s called. It’s known simply as, IRST Sensor System.
I have an article here about the J-10B, there’s a system on it that’s linked to it’s AESA radar known as a ‘Electro Harmonix LBP-1, basically it’s an extra “pedal”, a third if you like, that when pressed (switched on) the performance of the fighter’s AESA is Boosted and improves the saturation of all the systems on board the aircraft. Very clever bit of kit!

Like it or not, F-22 cannot beat J-10B. J-10B has everything F-22 has, namely reduced RCS, AESA, helmet sight, MAWS, holographic HUD etc. and has things F-22 does not have, namely DSI and IRST. J-10B is delivered later this year. Even in 2014 the US air force cannot fight the PLA air force in the Taiwan strait, let alone 2025. F-22 and B-2 cannot get near Chinese shores due to HQ-9 and HT-233 combo which has an engagement range of 200 km and J-10B. US naval vessels cannot get near Chinese shores due to Type 052D destroyer which is commissioned later this year and Type 054A frigate and Type 041 SSK. J-10B is superior to F-16E Block 60 and Type 052D is superior to Arleigh Burke. America cannot even do anything about Syria, let alone about a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Congress would never give authorization which means the president only has 90 days to fight China. China, on the other hand, can wage a war as long as it wants to until Taiwan gets a regime change.

Well, as I always thought, the F-15 (or F-35) was always going to “win”. Regardless of what I personally think, the F-15 is a rather credible choice and why shouldn’t it be chosen? See Toan’s points above. (Although, he’s missed out on quite a bit and pointed some things which are very passive and ignored).
The Typhoon would have also been a rather credible choice for South Korea and would have complimented their air force or specifically the F-15 fleet significantly, see Saudi Arabia. But what let the Typhoon down isn’t the current brass in charge, as the aircraft is coming along very well right now with a lot of support where it needs it despite the lack of coverage, it’s the past that has damaged it’s credibility, or more like the people that attempted to sell it back then, very poorly at that.
If you want to describe the design of F-15SE today as “something that hasn’t flown / been proven yet”, then I think you should also describe the Tranche 3 Typhoon design for the ROK Airforce’s requirement in the same way.

Actually, this story really looks like the story published in EF World, about Typhoon pilots claiming that Rafale were unable to spot Typhoon flying higher.
Rafale pilots said otherwise.
“Actually”, that DACT encounter indicated it was about aircraft performance, not anything regarding radar & what have you. Hence why the Italian pilot stated: “They are still trying to find where we were as we were flying and shooting at them well above the maximum flying envelope allowed to the Rafale!”
Given that it’s rather well known Typhoon performs better at higher altitudes than it does lower down, fighting at their advantages, it’s no surprise they had the upper hand. Of course, lower down it would be a different story – I’d put money on either if the Typhoon didn’t have HEA – but the claim by the Dassault rep regarding the Typhoon not being able to lock onto the Rafale is rather optimistic, and quite frankly, silly.
Why bother… got much more interesting things to do in life… like drop tune my Gibson’s and replace the Valves in my Amp Heads.

Fair enough! It’s quite a bold claim for the Dassault Executive to make and a one I most certainly don’t buy into. If the Typhoon, with any Captor guise, wasn’t able to lock onto a Rafale then it has some serious issues. Regardless, there’s much more compelling reports coming from Exercises Red Flag, Magic Carpet, Frisian Flag and such to suggest otherwise. Poor claim from that chap.

Regarding with what I said earlier. I didn’t say that those particular tests were at Leh Air Base, how the aircraft performed at hot & high altitudes.
A report from Jamie Hunter in AIR International stated that all the aircraft had had to take-off with a meaningful weapons load (an aircraft’s full A/A configuration) as well as with full external drop tanks, perform an aerobatic circuit then land using one engine. The F-16 and Gripen had to this without the use of reheat. The only fighter that managed to do this was Typhoon.

Honestly, th F-35 maybe cheaper than either the Typhoon or Strike Eagle besides being far more capable!
