I didn’t see any operational Rafale with more then 6MICA (not AdA, nor Aeronavale). Only presentation with Meteor + MICA (8AAM) but not operational fighter with 8MICA.

Well, you said ‘Max 6AAM’, so I presumed you weren’t aware of other stations. I’ve only seen 6 A/A missiles on operational Rafales, I don’t recall seeing any more than that, but technically it could easily carry 8 with three drop tanks or the possibility of 10 with two drop tanks if artist’s impressions are to be believed.

With newer and more capable weapons on the battlefield, especially in the air, Tanks are more vulnerable than ever before. I wouldn’t go as far to say Tanks are obsolete though. Indeed things have changed, but haven’t things changed every decade anyway?

Me too, EELightning. The same recently happened about Korean evaluation which took place in Spain.
I don’t know why. Because we are the minor partner? Because Public (International) Relationship of our Air Force or EADS-CASA doesn’t work well?
That’s the reason why I finally decided to participate in this forum: to solve doubts and post news about Spanish Typhoon “life” 😉

I’ve got no idea. I wouldn’t say it’s because Spain is a minor partner nation, afterall despite the economy crisis in Spain it seems as though they’re progressing well with Typhoon, they’ve bought into the Drops, up to Drop 3 if I remember correctly, as well of course P1EA and they’re exercising with GBU-16s and GBU-10s. For me, the GBU-10 is quite a surprise as I was under the impression they had just been dropped during evaluations.

At the moment for Typhoon, it needs more coverage in my opinion with the current negotiations going on with countries in the middle and far east. Plus, to also shut a lot of the doubters up. I would say its just the lack of reporting. But as long as things are running smoothly behind the scenes and are going well thats what matters I suppose, still nice to hear whats been going on though.

Regarding CASA and South Korea, I only remember a blog being posted last year (I forget the link, it might be on here somewhere) and it seemed that the South Koreans were very impressed with Typhoon. I don’t remember anything else being reported.

No. It was in march 2012. We didn`t have LDP by then.
Our T1 Block 5 don`t have CP-193 as English ones (austere A/G capability) and our T2 are receiving P1EA just now, wich integrates LDP Litening. So laser designation had to be external (all drops resulted in direct hits).

The only Typhoon showed in photos is C.16-49 * 11-29, which is a T2. In any case, five pilots were trained.
